NASA can't establish contact with Spirit. That might be some really bad news and I hope they figure out the problem soon.
![]() If the Spirit is lost that would be another one in a long series of Martian misfortunes, most recent being European Beagle 2. On a more positive note Opportunity is touching down on Saturday. And we are going to Mars! Yeaaaaaaaaahhh! ![]() UMoC |

They made it beep an hour or so ago.
When the MGS was overhead they detected a signal, but it was nonsense data. They then tried to talk to it in beeps, managed it for a bit, it stop and then they got a single beep. |

Time to reboot is guess.
The idea of sending humans to Mars seems more and more like suicide with every robotic failure. Too bad, I still hope I can witness the first person landing on Mars in my lifetime. |

I would hope and imagine that before landing a person on Mars, they'd do at least one trip there without landing. Hopefully, a manned orbit of Mars would reveal just what it is that causes these things to keep happening.
