SBL papers don't have to break as much ground as a regular article, but they should be a step forward to a publishable article.

The Call for Papers is already online. Pick a fitting section (either Johannine Literature or the Synpotic Gospels, say) and make your proposal there.

Hmm... Stephen, I think I will pursue the Synoptic Gospels section, with a paper tentatively titled:

"Reading John as a Synoptic Gospel:" *something even more devilishly witty*

Where coming up with evidence for John's use of Mark is just the beginning!

Just a note for Carlson and anyone else that I think I am abandoning the suggested titled essay. But I do want to write on John's use of a Synoptic, and I do want to present in the Synoptic Gospels section rather than the Johannine Literature section if feasible. Thus I need to find the appropriate hook for the Synoptic Scholar audience. (Calling John a "Synoptic" stretches the imagination a bit much.)

Hmmm.
