The biggest question should be why would an angel need reproductive equipment?

Don't know whether this is "the biggest question" when it comes to who and what "angels" are, but according to Jubilees it's so that they too, like Abraham, Moses, and others, can be marked and sealed as loyal to Yahweh. See Jubilees 15:27.

It comes in handy when they get tired of smiting humans and decide that banging their daughters is a lot more fun...

Why would the Christian god? He only did it once and he wasn't even there.

Why would that be a question? In the case of the fathers of the Nephilim I think it would be obvious, otherwise it just came with the package.

This was discussed in the Fllod - 2nd law of thermodynamics thread. My own take on this is that these are not angels, the term Bnai Elohim (sons of Gods or God) is unique. My interpretation is that the verse is literal, these were sons of the Gods.

Angels are often described as messengers but Genesis 32:4

Then Jacob sent messengers ...
I've seen this (molakhim) translated both as messengers and angels. Messengers seems better to me.

I haven't read all the posts here carefully, but we also see angels called ish (man) such as the guy Joseph met in Shechem when he was looking for his brothers. Or in the Sodom and Gomorah story as DLH noted.

The incident with Lot's daughters is interesting. The Sodomites want to have their way with the men, but have no interest in Lot's virgin daughters (guess that's why they called it Sodom). Their boy friends were with them that night but there was no premarital intercourse... Sodomite gentlemen. Finally they wind up getting impregnated by their father who they get drunk. One has to wonder if their egos were hurt by the amazing lack of male interest in them.

That is my understanding... AFAIK "to know" someone in bible is often used in a sexual manner, especially in city full of wicked people, and when this "knowing" is somehow supposed to be substituted by doing whatever they want to two virgins. (Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing;). And unless we think angels would voluntarily have gay sex, it seems like rape to me. Of course you are welcomed to shed more light on this.

I'd venture that this is just one of our learned doctor's attempted aporias.
