Here is Acharya's youtube video giving a basic introduction into the mythicist position as mentioned in the original post here. It is different from the previous articles. Check the links in the info box below the video for further reading too.
The Mythicist Position video As a reminder: The Mythicist Position: "Mythicism represents the perspective that many gods, goddesses and other heroes and legendary figures said to possess extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes are not “real people” but are in fact mythological characters. Along with this view comes the recognition that many of these figures personify or symbolize natural phenomena, such as the sun, moon, stars, planets, constellations, etc., constituting what is called “astromythology” or “astrotheology.” As a major example of the mythicist position, it is determined that various biblical characters such as Adam and Eve, Satan, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King David, Solomon and Jesus Christ, among other entities, in reality represent mythological figures along the same lines as the Egyptian, Sumerian, Phoenician, Indian, Greek, Roman and other godmen, who are all presently accepted as myths, rather than historical figures." - Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection, page 12 |

Just a little in-joke about the crucified Horus between my ol' friend Dave31 and me:
The crucified (sorry, cruciform) Pillsbury Doughboy, with his rolling pin of Destiny! |

Yeah, that definition of mythicism sucks, because it would make me a mythicist, too. If you don't want to answer the rhetorical challenges thrown against Acharya S, then perhaps you should instead choose to justify the disagreeable statements that you present as facts. Or, are you here just to advertise?

The evidence we have are texts that purport the existence of a supernatural god/man. Do you accept these texts as likely true or as likely mythical. If you wish to remove any bits from the texts in order to make your case, aren't you just making up your own version instead? |

Dave31, let's get back on topic. Am I a mythicist?
