To be fair to archaeology, Ron Wyatt had no credentials at all in the field. He was a self-styled "investigator," but he had absolutely no education or position as an archaeologist and was thoroughly disavowed by virtually everyone legitimate in the field, including the IAA.
True - my point was is that some (I hesitate to say many, but it might be) people heard of things like this and believed, while dismissing real archaeology. Plus, I think he was part of this amateur "I can do archaeology" trend of Christians pretending to be archaeologists and doing "digs" that prove the Bible is True, while probably damaging real sites. He didn't start it, but I think (for a while) he may have popularized the trend (or at least got it wider attention, even if people discarded his claims). All just my thoughts, so actual history may be different.

Wasn't Wyatt the guy who found Noah's Ark AND the Ark of the Covenant?

Somehow....he could never seem to produce proof of his "finds" but bible-thumpers pissed themselves with joy whenever he said he did.
Do not speak of him that way. He is no longer with us. He died.

Good. One less fundie quack in the world.

You are begging the question by assuming that the attempted crossing of the "Red" Sea ever occurred. However, the Bible states why he even pursued the Israelites at all: Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart so that Yahweh could obtain glory for himself.

Quote:
Exodus 14:4,8, 17:
4 I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, so that I will gain glory for myself over Pharaoh and all his army; and the Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh...8 Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt and he pursued the Israelites, who were going out boldly...17 Then I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them; and so I will gain glory for myself over Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots, and his chariot drivers.

Do you seriously think you can prove one part of a fairy tale by quoting another part of the fairy tale?

You are basically saying: Why would Goldilocks eat the second bowl of porridge if the first one was too hot?

Not every single thing in the OT is true. I have said this. However, when we find evidence of something that happened in the Bible, we can logically conclude that part happened.

So, it is a very reasonable assumption to say Pharaoh drowned.
When "we" find evidence? Who comprises the "we"? Were you on the "expedition"?

By all means...."produce the evidence" and let real archaeologists have a look at it.

That should put an end to that.
