Here's an example of why someone needs to know a little about the languages they are pretending to deal with. praxeus writes:
Quote:
While the noun YLD means that which is born, ie a child, if one looks at the verse that praxeus quotes so that he can erroneously conclude "Naomi is said to 'yalad' Obed", it says that Naomi took the child (YLD), not that Naomi brought forth (YLD) a child. Of course Naomi didn't do anything other than gain hold of Boaz and Ruth's YLD (child). The example that praxeus cites simply shows him to be wrong yet again. The reason why people learn something about the languages they deal with is so that they don't make such blunders as praxeus is prone to through his lack of knowledge. He says, 'So you will have to come up with yet another "exception clause" in your attempt to straightjacket yalad.' You can see that a little knowledge is dangerous, and obviously praxeus has so little he is a peril even to himself. spin |
