Default Example of God's Wrath

I'm looking for examples of God's wrath -- ie: Sodom and Gomorrah type stuff -- for a paper I'm writing (it's about overpopulation and I want to be as satirical as possible, so I'm more or less going to suggest we invoke the wrath of OT God to thin out the herd). I don't know my way around the Bible that well, or else I'd find them myself. I know that this is a subject that is frequently discussed on these forums, so I thought it would be the ideal place to ask for advice. I'm sorry if this post is redundant; I know the whole wrath thing must have been covered a thousand times already, but it would be awfully helpful to have some solid examples. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated, as it will save me a good deal of digging time.

PS. Actual quotes from the Bible would rock my socks off.

Oh, and I did a search for "God's Wrath" and other such things, but found nothing. I'm convinced that the search tool doesn't work, as I've tried multiple other searches and have never had any results.

You might try http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/
and look under Cruelty or Injustice for some examples.

Many thanks, there seem to be some gems in there.

You could also search an online bible like those found at The Bible Gateway. Check out the Amalekites, Read through the Book of Joshua, Certainly the flood story is about God's wrath, His treatment of the Canaanites throughout the OT is pretty damn wrathful. There's loads of wrath in Deuteronomy:

Quote:
Deuteronomy 9:8
At Horeb you aroused the LORD's wrath so that he was angry enough to destroy you.
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 9 In context: Deuteronomy 9:7-9)

Deuteronomy 9:19
I feared the anger and wrath of the LORD , for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the LORD listened to me.
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 9 In context: Deuteronomy 9:18-20)

Deuteronomy 29:20
The LORD will never be willing to forgive him; his wrath and zeal will burn against that man. All the curses written in this book will fall upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 29 In context: Deuteronomy 29:19-21)

Deuteronomy 29:28
In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now."
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 29 In context: Deuteronomy 29:27-29)

Deuteronomy 32:22
For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death [ 32:22 Hebrew [ to Sheol ] ] below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 32 In context: Deuteronomy 32:21-23)

I'm mainly looking for good examples of silly reasons that God's wrath was invoked -- like 70,00 dying as a result of David conducting an improper census. The sillier the better.
