I swear I'm not being facetious, although the comparison is a bit humorous. Let's see ... my cat likes to
a) sit outside the bathroom door when one of us is inside b) strategically position himself across entrances so we have to cross him when we go about the house c) has a pot belly d) has big ears e) likes to eat treats Well, the treats are the fishy kind instead of ladoos, and he is probably too scared of rats to sit on one. But, I chose to ignore that for now. |

Well, mudra-wise, he is rather limited by his paws, but when he tries to grab the treat I dangle in front of him, it looks like he is doing a Namaste

*laugh*
He could still do "fear not" or "the enlightenment," but definitely not "teaching." |

There is a difference between your cat and Ganesha. Your cat is a transistory appartition, where as Ganesha is an idea. However, there is no difference between you and your cat to an Advaitist (non-dualist). The cat also is Brahman. Scientifically, your cat has the nearly the same chemical composition as yourself. Genetically also, 99% (or about) of the DNA is the same.

Are not ideas also transitory apparitions in the medium of cognitive apparatus? In that sense, Ganesha, as an idea, will only exist as long as there is someone who conceives of him in their mind.

My cat knows the ninjitsu mudra of invisibility. She uses it every time my in-laws bring their dogs over to go walking.
But my cat is not a ninja. Or Ganesh. She's more of a brooding prime-evil, ripe for destruction and waiting for her auspicious opportunity to kill us all. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! |
