Hope you do not own a ten-gallon hat. . . .

Quote:
That stuff just ain't in the bible, folks (if it is and the rest of this post is all false, I'll wear my breakfast bowl and then eat cereal out of it, which is sorta like eating my hat).
. . . relax . . . you are fine . . . though you look rather odd in the hat. The "war on heaven" thing comes from Jubilees if memory serves me correctly. People try to make the story exist in the Bible. The bene elohim--the sons of the gods who come down just before the flood to mate with da wimminfolk and found a race of heros get misinterpreted as "fallen angels." The taunt on the the "son of the morning star," with which some translation into Greek then Latin yields "Lucifer" who like the Sun . . . "rises and falls"--hence FALLEN ANGEL WHO IS SATAN!! Again, this is not the purpose of the text.

Not that the purpose of the text ever stopped a theologian.

Milton does condense much of the myth and gets a great deal of credit for the popular conception of the once esteemed Stumbling Block and sometimes Prosecutor . . . who has no problem crashing parties in heaven in Job . . . in fact, YHWH . . . or is it El . . . ask him where he has been!
