Hello Spin! I didn't realize you held this interpretation. Everyone interprets things differently, of course. Not contradicting your view as the Bible often has layered and double fulfillments of things, but I'll note my personal interpretation for those you listed.

Quote:
SPIN: The normal position held by the vast majority of scholars:
LG47: "Vast majority of scholars"? Ignored.

Quote:
1) the "anointed one" is a normal Hebrew expression indicating "high priest" -- a high priest had to be anointed to be a priest;
Christ comes the first time as a sacrifice, the second time as a king-priest, like Melchizedek. Daniel 9 references both the first and second comings, you must keep the two separate and understand their difference.

Quote:
2) the anointed one in 9:25 is Jeshua ben Jehozadak, the high priest of the return from Babylon mentioned in several Hebrew bible books;
No comment, other than do you have some chronology supporting the dating? Where do the 70 weeks come into play?

Quote:
3) the anointed one who is cut off in 9:26 is the high priest Onias, who was removed from office in 175 BCE, but only killed (cut off) in 172 BCE;
In my interpretation, the "anointed" are the entire Jewish nation, cut off after 62 weeks into the final 70 weeks, that is 434 years from 1506AD which is 1940, the beginning of the Holocaust.

Quote:
4) the prince who is to come is the Seleucid king, Antiochus IV, who was responsible for the removal of Onias, and had a faction in Jerusalem who supported him (the strong covenant with the many);
The prince is the messiah at the first or second coming or both.

Quote:
5) half a week of years later, in 168/7, Antiochus polluted the temple, the desolation decreed;
This might have happened as one fulfillment, but the "end of gift and sacrifice" at the first coming, per my interpretation, is when Jesus' on death ends the significance of the ritual animal sacrifices. However, he instituted another ritual of the Last Supper which became another form of "gift and sacrifice" that ends when Jesus returns the second time, since he eats it one last time when he arrives, ending that ritural. This would be a mid-week, of the 70th week, therefore at Passover of 1993.

) temple sacrifice stopped for the half week of years which followed and the temple remained a place where Greek sacrifices took place (the actual abomination that desolates is probably a statue of Antiochus IV in the form of the Olympian Zeus -- 2 Macc 6:2);
Could be a minor or double fulfillment, but the "ending gift and sacrifice" occurs otherwse twice in line with the messiah. Maybe a third time is in relation to Antiochus IV. But you have to have chronology correct. When you are dating the 70th week? What date?

Quote:
You'll get a lot more detail about the last few weeks of years from Daniel 11, but you won't understand it unless you have some knowledge history of the wars between the Seleucids and the Ptolemies, the kings of the north and south.
Thanks. But as I said, this is a multi-layered prophecy involving references to the messiah at both the first and second coming and the Jews themselves as the "messiah."

Quote:
Is there anything in this else you need to have explained?
No. Just the above questions about when your 70th week is occurring. Thanks.

I understand that most xians are vastly lacking in knowledge about the Hebrew bible. But I can assure that much regarding Daniel can be dealt with through a scholarly commentary on the book.
Well, that might be true, but there are a lot of serious apologetics out there!
