No it doesn't.

It actually has the opposite effect.

Only on the strong muslims. There are many out there on the edge of freedom, and many who do not have access to unbiased information. They usually keep their opinions silent out of fear, but they can read.

There are ex-muslims. This was written by an ex-muslim: http://www.secularislam.org/research/origins.htm

I thought you were talking about Christians. I thought it was obvious why Americans infidels would concentrate on questioning Christianity.

Why keep questioning something you know is wrong? It's better to move onto questioning other things and gain more experience, that's my view. Christianity is not as much of a threat these days as Islam is to people.

In America, Christianity is the main religion...and it's everywhere. Being an atheist in a country like this isn't easy. We're faced with bigotry and hatred from Christians who just don't understand what atheism is. They consider atheists immoral, hate-filled, lying creatures who only care about personal satisfaction and are incapable of love and similar emotions. The misconceptions surrounding atheism in America are numerous and extreme and constantly having to deal with Christians who perpetuate them tends to make atheists focus more on Christianity, but other religions are also considered.

Wow, you've been through the whole board and all it's threads in less than 24 hours? Now that is amazing! Maybe you could teach that trick to the fundies who also join and immediately start posting and criticising the board and all of us delusional, angry Atheists without ever reading a lick of the plethra of subjects that have been posted and often reposted (due mainly to theists not bothering to read and learn first).
Kind of a funny thing that you will notice as you spend more time here, most of the theists that come here to "take us on" are Xians...so naturally the discussion will parse their religious beliefs. But you will also see Moslems come here to do battle (at least one did just yesterday). I have also seen Wiccans, Pagans, Jews, Hindus, and a few other odd belief systems or off-shoots of others...but of course not to the same degree as the many different Christian sects (30,000 or so of different Christian sects past & present...that might be part of the reason for what you see). Of course some sects of Islam would, at least on the surface, claim that computers are an evil western invention and reject the use of them.
This site was started in the U.S., is comprised mostly(?) of westerners who gave up/rejected the majority belief system where they live. I imagine that other things like higher income levels and access to resources (like computers and the internet) in certain countries may play a part as well.
The best thing to do now that you are here is to learn NOT to jump to conclusions unless certain information is present. I doubt that in less than 24 hours you can conclude all you need to know about this board (and connected site).

Many here have been seriously hurt by Christianity, actual or perceived. So it becomes a bit of a blood sport.

I know, and I think that is unproductive.

You are right, but we are all just human and it feels good some times to bash ones persecutors.

How would it be "more" productive to attack Islam? I don't think it would be.
