That's not a camp. It's a metropolis.

It certainly would have been the largest city in the world at the time.

I assume that Dave has conveniently vacated this thread. It would have been fun discussing the invasion of Egypt with him that was supposedly caused by the Ten Plagues.

I think Fundies are the 11th Plague.

(Unlike the first ten, however, they are all too real.)

He's been hanging in E/C today. Maybe he'll be back here soon.

I personally would think that a number that large would leave some trace of living. We know that evidence has been found in one of the oasis' of Egypt of smaller camps by soldiers. (There are articles on the subject I just don't feel like finding them).
The number often tossed around is 2.5 million people by the time you factor in women, children, and the elderly and infirm. That's not a camp. It's a metropolis.

Just to put this into perspective ...

In 1520, when the Spanish reach Tenochtitlan (the Aztec Empire's capital) It's got about 250,000-300,000 people in it. That's about 5x the population of 1500's London, and it rivals Rome and Constantinople as one of the biggest citties in the world. And somehow we archaeologists can't find the remains of ten times that number wandering in a (relatively) small desert area for 40 years ...

Go figure ...

Obviously, archaeologists are clearly inept!

No, no, not inept. You're just approaching your work with skewed assumptions. You just don't realize what a treasure-house of accurate historical information the Bible is. If you just shake off the fetters imposed on your worldview by the EAC, you'll begin to understand exactly what the evidence is that lies before you. Just follow the lead of people like Piazzi Smyth and David Rohl who didn't approach their subject with establishment-imposed assumptions leading them to preconceived conclusions.

Perhaps we are all missing something maybe the "Hebrews" who "escaped slavery in Egypt" were the first and best really "ecological" race in the history of the Universe and they were just very very very good at picking up after themselves .
That would easily explain the lack of any evidence left behind..... they re-cycled.
I bet if archaeologists really really really looked underneath the cities, they eventually founded, they would find all sorts of re-cycled rubbish used as foundations and it would also explain what the Tower of Babel was built out of - decades worth of rubbish (garbage) and God didn't like it as it was a bit smelly by then and was putting him off his breakfast

I don't know, bro. Paleontologists have found coprolites (fossilized dinosaur shit). Can you imagine what a latrine for 2.5 million people for 40 years would look like? Or smell like!
