![]() I was suspicious... I knew the posts felt familiar, but I didn't place it to you. I was thinking it was a re-tread. |

![]() In my time, I deleted a countless number of Derens post (particularly in the large culls of those messy 100+ page long rule 1 & 4.2 threads) for uncited claims to peoples salvation. First and only time i've ever been repeatedly abused in PM as a mod. Eh. Quote:

And what better place to post if for critical scrutiny!
What would you all think of CF redefining itself as a community of Christians... a community of Christians with unique and differing faiths and beliefs. A site that doesn't try to define what it means to be Christian, accepting that while we consider ourselves followers of Christ, our traditions and beliefs vary. The idea would be to get away from the bickering and fighting over who gets to call themselves Christian and who doesn't. Whether a site allows it or not, people will still call themselves what they will. While broadening the doors, this doesn't mean CF endorses any one belief - After all, we still have the individual faith forums, but the fight over who wears what icon and who gets to decide if its Christian or not will be moot. Let each faith have its own definition of 'Christian' if they wish. Instead of trying to "unite" all Christians (which comes down to tooth and nail fighting and arguing as the rules are constantly in flux, doomed forever in a tumultuous attempt to define a system that fits all Christian faiths), treat the community as a "confederation" of Christians. We each have our different beliefs about what it is or isn't to be a Christian... and if we simply must have a general definition let it just be "a follower and believer in Christ". That's it. Nothing more. Now if you wanted to be a member of the Orthodox or Catholic community, you would obviously have to accept the Nicene Creed. But to be a Messianic Jew you wouldn't have to accept this creed. You're still a Christian under the more simpler definition, but each faith retains the right to define a Christian according to their beliefs. The debate over who's right and wrong can still be had in the appropriate forums of course. Battle to your hearts content... bon appetit. I'm not that good at penning my thoughts, but what do people think about this? Obviously this is just a rough draft proposal, but if I'm looney or missing something, please let me know. I've thought about PMing Erwin regarding this, but I'd really like to have others give me their opinions and thoughts first. Maybe even help me define the idea a whole lot better. ![]() Thanks. |
