And anyway, surely they have better things to pray for - like the billions of people who haven't lived longer than average life-expectancy or in the lap of luxury. Where are their priorities?
It shouldn't even matter who the pope is! God is speaking to him and through him, right? Why should anyone be attached to this one? The next one will be speaking God's will, right?

It is not the Pope's fault that the media is always so desperate to force feed the sufferings and tragedies of others on the viewers.

There was a camera in his vehicle, showing the back of his head. I think he had a little bit to do with this.

It is the pope's fault at the moment because he is in charge of the church. He is the cause for much of these sufferings and tragedies.

In fact, what is the problem?

If it were an atheist that was getting all the coverage you would not be complaining. Now you want, for the sake of political correctness that the Dalai Lama also gets the same screen time, and I don't care if he does, but making such demands in these grounds is simply childish.

On the same token, if there is a program mocking Christianity, then you all celebrate it but when someone speaks out against homosexuality(for example) then you cry fould and say it is intolerant. Why the double standard?

You're wrong about that. No matter who it is, this nauseating blitz of coverage would turn me off. Nobody rates this kind of coverage. Remember when Arafat was dying? I got sick of that too.

There are so many things happening in the world that are much more important than stalker coverage of any one individual. CNN could spend that time covering genocide in Somalia, or cancer research, or spouse abuse, or drug abuse, or .... almost any of the things they could be covering but don't. I feel the same way about Michael Jackson and Martha Stewart, if that makes you feel better.

I fully agree with you, and it if for that reason that I no longer watch TV or read Newspapers. The otehr day, I grabed a newspaper (big mistake) while on the path train and a whole article in it dealt with a statue that had Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aninston together, it was saying that since they are now divorced they will have to spearate or destroy the statue. Really it can't get any dumber than what goes in the media today.

But really, there are many people who have the double standard that I pointed out. Good to see that you are not one of those.

When he dies they'll just replace him with another reactionary. The untold misery this church has cost, from the beginning of christianity to the pedophilia scandal, and they want to talk about...what?

Abortion, gay marriage, and getting you to vote republican. Jumpin' jesus on a pogo stick, if these motherfuckers shouldn't be taxed, who the hell should be???
