Default The Qur'an's Guidelines for life

Greetings brothers and sisters,

Assalam au alaikum or Peace be with you,

Here are the guidelines for living a life as commanded in the Qur'an.

1. Respect and honour all human beings irrespective of their religion,
colour, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession/job
and so on [Qur'an17/70]

2. Talk straight, to the point, without any ambiguity or deception
[Qur'an33/70]

3. Choose best words to speak and say them in the best possible way
[Qur'an17/53, 2/83]

4. Do not shout. Speak politely keeping your voice low. [Qur'an31/19]

5. Always speak the truth. Shun words that are deceitful and
ostentatious [Qur'an22/30]

6. Do not confound truth with falsehood [Qur'an2/42]

7. Say with your mouth what is in your heart [Qur'an3/167]

8. Speak in a civilised manner in a language that is recognised by the
society and is commonly used [Qur'an4/5]

9. When you voice an opinion, be just, even if it is against a
relative [Qur'an6/152]

10. Do not be a bragging boaster [Qur'an31/18]

11. Do not talk, listen or do anything vain [Qur'an23/3, 28/55]

12. Do not participate in any paltry. If you pass near a futile play,
then pass by with dignity [Qur'an25/72]

13. Do not verge upon any immodesty or lewdness whether surreptitious
or overt [Qur'an6/151]

14. If, unintentionally, any misconduct occurs by you, then correct
yourself expeditiously [Qur'an3/134]

15. Do not be contemptuous or arrogant with people [Qur'an31/18]

16. Do not walk haughtily or with conceit [Qur'an17/37, 31/18]

17. Be moderate in thy pace [Qur'an31/19]

18. Walk with humility and sedateness [Qur'an25/63]

19. Keep your gazes lowered devoid of any lecherous leers and
salacious stares [Qur'an24/30-31, 40/19]

20. If you do not have complete knowledge about anything, it is better
to keep silent. You might think that speaking about something without
full knowledge is a trivial matter. But it might have grave
consequences
[Qur'an24/15-16]

21. When you hear something malicious about someone, keep a favourable
view about him/her until you attain full knowledge about the matter.
Consider others innocent until they are proven guilty with solid and
truthful evidence [Qur'an24/12-13]

22. Ascertain the truth of any news, lest you smite someone in
ignorance and afterwards repent of what you did [Qur'an49/6]

23. Do not follow blindly any information of which you have no direct
knowledge. (Using your faculties of perception and conception) you
must verify it for yourself. In the Court of your Lord, you will be
held
accountable for your hearing, sight, and the faculty of reasoning
[Qur'an17/36]

24. Never think that you have reached the final stage of knowledge and
nobody knows more than yourself. Remember! Above everyone endowed with
knowledge is another endowed with more knowledge [Qur'an12/76]. Even
the Prophet [p.b.u.h] was asked to keep praying, "O My sustainer!
Advance
me in knowledge." [Qur'an20:114]

25. The believers are but a single Brotherhood. Live like members of
one family, brothers and sisters unto one another [Qur'an49/10]

26. Do not make mockery of others or ridicule others [Qur'an49/11]

27. Do not defame others [Qur'an49/11]

28. Do not insult others by nicknames [Qur'an49/11]

29. Avoid suspicion and guesswork. Suspicion and guesswork might
deplete your communal energy [Qur'an49/12]

30. Spy not upon one another [Qur'an49/12]

31. Do not backbite one another [Qur'an49/12]

32. When you meet each other, offer good wishes and blessings for
safety. One who conveys to you a message of safety and security and
also when a courteous greeting is offered to you, meet it with a
greeting
still more courteous or (at least) of equal courtesy [Qur'an4/86]

33. When you enter your own home or the home of somebody else,
compliment the inmates [Qur'an24/61]

34. Do not enter houses other than your own until you have sought
permission; and then greet the inmates and wish them a life of
blessing,purity and pleasure [Qur'an24/27]

35. Treat kindly: Your parents; Relatives; The orphans; And those who
have been left alone in the society [Qur'an4/36]

36. Take care of: The needy, The disabled, Those whose hard earned
income is insufficient to meet their needs; And those whose
businesses have stalled ; And those who have lost their jobs.
[Qur'an4/36]

37. Treat kindly: Your related neighbours, and unrelated neighbours;
Companions by your side in public gatherings, or public
transportation.[Qur'an4/36]

38. Be generous to the needy wayfarer, the homeless son of the
street, and the one who reaches you in a destitute condition
[Qur'an4/36]

39. Be nice to people who work under your care. [Qur'an4/36]

40. Do not follow up what you have given to others to afflict them
with reminders of your generosity [Qur'an2/262]

41. Do not expect a return for your good behaviour, not even thanks
[Qur'an76/9]

42. Cooperate with one another in good deeds and do not cooperate with
others in evil and bad matters [Qur'an5/2]

43. Do no try to impress people on account of self-proclaimed virtues
[Qur'an53/32]

44. You should enjoin right conduct on others but mend your own ways
first. Actions speak louder than words. You must first practice good
deeds yourself, then preach [Qur'an2/44]

45. Correct yourself and your families first [before trying to correct
others] [Qur'an66/6]

46. Pardon gracefully if anyone among you who commits a bad deed out
of ignorance, and then repents and amends [Qur'an6/54, 3/134]

47. Divert and sublimate your anger and potentially virulent emotions
to creative energy, and become a source of tranquillity and comfort to
people [Qur'an3/134]

48. Call people to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful
exhortation. Reason with them most decently [Qur'an16/125]

49. Leave to themselves those who do not give any importance to the
Divine code and have adopted and consider it as mere play and
amusement [Qur'an6/70]

50. Sit not in the company of those who ridicule Divine Law unless
they engage in some other conversation [Qur'an4/140]

51. Do not be jealous of those who are blessed [Qur'an4/54]

52. In your collective life, make rooms for others [Qur'an58/11]

53. When invited to dine, Go at the appointed time. Do not arrive too
early to wait for the preparation of meal or linger after eating to

host [Qur'an33/53]

54. Eat and drink [what is lawful] in moderation [Qur'an7/31]

55. Do not squander your wealth senselessly [Qur'an17/26]

56. Fulfil your promises and commitments [Qur'an17/34]

57. Keep yourself clean, pure [Qur'an9/108, 4/43, 5/6]

58. Dress-up in agreeable attire and adorn yourself with exquisite
character from inside out [Qur'an7/26]

59. Seek your provision only by fair endeavour [Qur'an29/17, 2/188]

60. Do not devour the wealth and property of others unjustly, nor
bribe the officials or the judges to deprive others of their
possessions
[Qur'an2/188]

"Alif Laam Raa. A book which we have revealed to you so that you may
lead the people from out of the darknesses into the light by their
Lord's leave to the path of the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy." [Qur'an
14:1]

The Qur'an ("Qor-Ann") is a Message from GOD to humanity. It was
transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Almighty Himself (swt)
to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. This message was given
to the Prophet Mohammad in pieces over a period spanning approximately
23 years (610 CE to 622 CE). The Prophet (saas) was 40 years old when
the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the
revelation was completed. The language of the original message was
Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages.

================================================== ===================

What is a Muslim?

Simple: To be a Muslim you must:
1) Believe in a One God that is all powerful, and the Creator of
everything there is.

2) Believe that God has contacted us via messages by His messengers:
Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and finally Mohammed. In addition to many
others.

3) Believe that the Quran is God's literal word. Meaning each word
comes from Him. That can be verified by a detailed study of the Quran
and what it implies. One gets the impression that no human being could
have possibly written such a book.

4) Believe that God will judge us after death based on our deeds and
the choices we make in life.

5) Believe in doing good and avoiding evil to the best of your
ability. These are the basic beliefs that you must have to be a Muslim.
According to this, all prophets conveyed the same message (including
Moses and Jesus, who the Quran says was human). There are many details
to practicing Islam, like how to pray and how to fast, the
implementation of those make you a better Muslim.

Here are but a few select quotes from Syed's 'holy' book. I found them on the Intarweb:

Quote:
"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)

"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)

"Forbidden to you are...married women, except those you own as slaves." (Surah 4:20-, 24-)

"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:103-)

"Try as you may, you cannot treat all your wives impartially." (Surah 4:126-)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)

"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)

"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

"Fight for the cause of God with the devotion due to Him...He has given you the name of Muslims..." (Surah 22:78-)

"You shall not force your slave-girls into prostitution in order that you make money, if they wish to preserve their chastity." (Surah 24:33-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)
...for some reason, they appear to be in direct contrast with those in the OP.

Oops, almost forgot. Here are a few quotes from one of Islam's most famous spokesmen:

Quote:
A man can have sexual pleasure from a child as young as a baby. However, he should not penetrate; sodomising the child is OK. If the man penetrates and damages the child then he should be responsible for her subsistence all her life. This girl, however, does not count as one of his four permanent wives. The man will not be eligible to marry the girl's sister.

Ayatollah Khomeini
Quote:
It is better for a girl to marry in such a time when she would begin menstruation at her husband's house rather than her father's home. Any father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in heaven.

Ayatollah Khomeini
Quote:
A man can have sex with animals such as sheeps, cows, camels and so on. However, he should kill the animal after he has his orgasm. He should not sell the meat to the people in his own village; however, selling the meat to the next door village should be fine.

Ayatollah Khomeini
The quotes above are from Khomeini's book, Tahrirolvasyleh, vol. 4, Darol Elm, Gom, Iran, 1990.

Quote:
If one commits the act of sodomy with a cow, an ewe, or a camel, their urine and their excrements become impure, and even their milk may no longer be consumed. The animal must then be killed and as quickly as possible and burned.

Ayatollah Khomeini
From The Little Green Book: Sayings of Ayatollah Khomeini, Political, Phylosophica, Social and Religious, with a special introduction by Clive Irving, ISBN number0-553-14032-9, page 47.

Quote:
Eleven things are impure: urine, excrement, sperm...non-Moslem men and women...and the sweat of an excrement-eating camel.

Ayatollah Khomeini
From The Little Green Book, Source: Harwood's Mythology's Last Gods

Here's one from the supreme islamic authorites, which as far as I know has not been repealed. So much for the supposed religion of tolerance - 99.999% of the members of the forums deserved to be punished for accepting the sperical nature of this planet?

Quote:
The earth is flat, and anyone who disputes this claim is an atheist who deserves to be punished.
Muslim religious edict, 1993, Sheik Abdel-Aziz Ibn Baaz, Supreme religious authority, Saudi Arabia.

Syed, what do think the nature of that punishment should be? Oh, and by the way, is the planet Earth flat or a sphere?

Whoa Neddy, he's just got through the door, and I have met several Arabic people who are as balanced and philosophical as the rest of us 'normal' people. The same with Fundies, we all have rotten apples in our barrels.

'Let him without sin cast the first stone'.

And as an atheist I have condemned Stalin and Maozedong amongst others, but they were pumpkins compared to the apples.

missus_gumby,

Its a shame if someone gets treicked or deluded in thinking that Islam orders muslims to make war and kill and mistreate women and such.Believe me if Islam was really like that it wouldnt have been the fastest growing religion in the world.
The quotes that you showed are taken out of their context.
Like in those where it says fight and make wars there are verses before it that says only make jihad if they attack you first!
But ofcourse the anti-muslim sites dont show you the other verses.
They just take a verse thats talking about war or such and tell you "see?see what the Quran says?Too much about peace huh?"
Its sad if you just believe what they say.But it would be right if you visit a couple of good Islam sites and listen to what they say and then its up to you to judge but before that you just cant.

Bringing some verses taken out of their context that seems to condem Islam is very easy. But researching and trying to find out the truth is not easy but atleast it is very rewarding.

Now i will show you a couple of verses that talk about war and morals and pacifism in Islam:

Fight in the Way of God against those who fight you, but do not go beyond the limits. God does not love those who go beyond the limits. (Surat al-Baqara: 190)

You who believe! Show integrity for the sake of God, bearing witness with justice. Do not let hatred for a people incite you into not being just. Be just. That is closer to heedfulness. Heed God (alone). God is aware of what you do. (Surat al-Ma'ida: 8)

Each time they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it. They rush about the earth corrupting it. Allah does not love corrupters. (Surat al-Ma'ida: 64)

Permission to fight is given to those who are fought against because they have been wronged - truly God has the power to come to their support - those who were expelled from their homes without any right, merely for saying, 'Our Lord is God' (Surat al-Hajj: 39-40)

...God does not forbid you from being good to those who have not fought you over religion or driven you from your homes, or from being just towards them. God loves those who are just. God merely forbids you from taking as friends those who have fought you over religion and driven you from your homes and who supported your expulsion... (Surat al-Mumtahana: 8-9)

The word Islam comes from the same Arabic root as the word peace and the Koran condemns war as an abnormal state of affairs opposed to God's will: "When the enemies of the Muslims kindle a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. They strive to create disorder in earth, and Allah loves not those who create disorder." (Koran 28:78). Islam does not justify a total aggressive war or extermination, as the Torah does in the first five books of the Bible. A more realistic religion than Christianity, Islam recognizes that war is inevitable and sometimes a positive duty in order to and oppressions and suffering. The Koran teaches that war must be limited and be conducted in as humane a way of possible. Mohammed had to fight not only the Meccans but also the Jewish tribes in the area and Christian tribes in Syria who planned on offensive against him in alliance with the Jews. Yet this did not make Mohammed denounce the People of the Book. His Muslims were forced to defend themselves but they were not fighting a holy war against the religion of their enemies. When Mohammed sent his freedman Zaid against the Christians at the head of a Muslim army, he told them to fight in the cause of God bravely but humanely. They must not molest priests, monks and nuns nor the weak and helpless people who were unable to fight. There must be no massacre of civilians nor should they cut down a single tree nor pull down any building. This was very different from the wars of Joshua

I have tons of other hadiths and versus to show but i fear that will make a very long post and guys here will be to lazy to read it all.
Nevertheless i want to show you a very famous and known verse in the noble quran:
***"...if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people...(Noble Quran 5:32)"***

And finaly please take a look at this site:
http://www.islamdenouncesterrorism.com/

As for Ayael allah koutemi,i dont care about what he says.I care about what the quran and what the prophet said.
If a muslim says bad things that doesnt mean the problem lies in the Quran but the problem lies in him.

Pharaoh,

With all due respect, islam is poison, just as christianity is. The qur'an is hopelessly contradictory. For every verse telling you to love your fellow man, you can find another telling you what horrible torture to inflict on him.

The qur'an and the bible are doubly dangerous for exactly that reason. They are amazing, chameleon-like books with the ability to appear holy and loving when the occasion calls for it, or vicious and bloodthirsty when it comes to eliminating the competition.

There is possibly nothing quite as revolting to my mind as a belief, book, or person professing love and peace between all peoples, while at the same time promising suffering, torture and damnation to all those who will not follow it implicitly.

Well, well, well, another drive-by dawah gone astray

"If a muslim says bad things that doesnt mean the problem lies in the Quran but the problem lies in him."

Usually followed by bad deeds, followed by Muslim apologetics along the line of "no true Muslim". Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?

"Fight in the Way of God against those who fight you, but do not go beyond the limits. God does not love those who go beyond the limits. (Surat al-Baqara: 190)"

Funny, didn't know that Spain (711), or France (Battle of Poitiers, 732), India or the Balkan were part of Arabia... But what would those desertdwellers know of geography, right? Sorry for calling your bluff, but those were wars of conquest, not defense.

In case you hadn't noticed, you're posting on the Internet INFIDEL discussion board. According to your Islamic Law, us infidels, or kafirs if you like, are impure/filthy (najis). No need to tell lies, check the list: http://majalla.org/books/law/najisthings.htm

Of course, I failed to mention the strong case against Mohammed as a moral authority. But then again, just because he "revealed" the qu'ran, you're willing to let pedophilia, rape, murder, robbery, genocide and treachery slide. I think I'm not too far off stating that the average atheist is not taken in by that. Small wonder you guys keep stating pbuh, peace be upon him, whenever Muhammad's name's mentioned. He'll need it real hard if there ever is a REAL Judgement Day

Anyway, just like in the bible, you can find one position and the exact opposite (thou shalt not kill! But kill all infidels for they are Allah's biggest enemies!!) in the qu'ran, making it worthless as a guide to life.

<edit: some grammatical errors and a parting shot>
