Just an aside but I tracked down Oxman et al. That article says that findings suggest the subjective experiences of schizophrenia, hallucinogenic drug-induced states, and mystical ecstasy are more different from one another than alike. Jumping from that to some sort of "higher power" is a big jump indeed.

Past that I'm not commenting further because it would not be fair to MC.
