I love all kinds of food, but I really love beef, chicken or fish along with a nice helping of green veggies (and some good bread beforehand).
I did have an excellently prepared, dry aged, 12 ounce filet mignon cooked rare to medium rare at my favorite steakhouse tonight. It was deeelicious. |

If our ancestors hadn't started eating meat, they would not have had the right diets to start developing more complex brains. Protiens, certain fats and oils are required for this point in the evolutionary development that were not found in the right amounts and abundancy and consistancy as in meats- white and red.
I honestly dont think this is something to be proud of though, but its neither something to be ashamed of either. I think it all depends on your moral standpoint. I see no reason not to eat animals that is compatible with my certain beliefs, so I do. This doesn't mean I'm gonna go to England and order and steak, as I do prefer Australian meat cuts (leaner, healthier, tastier). I also like mine cooked until it's nearly carcinogenic too, and prefer chicken and fish over red meats mostly (there are exceptions of course). Heh. Just personal taste I guess. |

Especially swine. I looooooooooove the PIGS! (bacon & ham = life) ![]() The few vegetables I eat barely keep me hanging off the edge of "Omnivore" status... even though I barely even claim it ;P |

Big-time meat and vegetable eater here. Not as keen on the fruit thing though, but I'll chew on a banana or an apple or a pear every now and again. (Basically enough to prevent gum disease etc.)
Medium-rare Filet Mignon > *.meat Moral vegetarians piss me off in a big way. Get over yourself. The human digestive system is not designed to cope with large amounts of vegetable matter. No problem with medical vegetarians though. |

Yeah, I eat meat. Not in huge quantity - I generally use around 150g per person, a few times a week.
Being married to a muslim is a bit of a moral compromise when it comes to meat; halal slaughter is NOT very humane, and I feel rather bad about condoning it. However, it's that or nothing, so I dump my objections in the face of having to live seafood/vegie. I'm still not happy about it, though. If the animal is going to die anyway, though, it doesn't hugely matter in the end, so long as the slaughterer isn't getting off on it. That's my rationalisation, don't you dare take it away from me. Damn it all, I miss chorizo. And salami. And bacon sandwiches. jbc |

I have always eaten meat. But now that I am on Atkins, that is almost all I eat any more. The biggest problem with Atkins so far is meat is expensive.

Omnivore here, although I eat plenty of animal protein and bacon should be a seperate food group ... yummm ...
I do my best to eat grass-fed, free-range meat from a local farm. It's very yummy and everything from the eggs to the porterhouse steaks are leaner, and healthier. I also eat plenty of veggies and only certain fruits (high fiber, low GI fruits - berries for example.) I also really love nuts and eat a healthy share of those for all the good stuff in 'em - good fats, folic acid, fiber. I usually keep a container of mixed nuts at my desk for when I get hungry. You won't catch me giving up meat anytime soon. Brighid |
