Hello all,
The Crown conceded that there were no charges against the defendants because of Parker and Kreiger won Vs HMTQueen, and that they could have their lights and equipment back and wrote an order saying that the cops had to give them back. Guess what… the cops can’t find the evidence. Imagine that??? The Crown will hold over the decision to give the pot back for another month but they don’t have a leg to stand on. We will hear about it some time in October.

The whole thing is a little complicated but here’s the short version. This Parker/Kreiger defense is a thing of beauty. In simple terms the word marihuana was stricken from the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Every other drug is listed in the CDSA except for pot. Here’s the beauty part… there’s no lawyer involved to defend you, you defend yourself, thus making the Judge work to represent you against the prosecution. In effect the Judge becomes your lawyer and it’s all free, ‘cause the forms are made available on the Internet by a guy named John Turmel. He’s a character and a half and funny as hell. If you're asked questions by the Judge you don't even need to answer them 'cause it's all presented in writing and all the answers are in the factum.

He (John) simply points out that the law died on Terry Parker day and that no court can bring the law back, only Parliament can make laws. The Crown is hanging on by the skin of their teeth and the best they can do is hold over these cases until Parliament brings in new legislation. Time is running out for the Crown now and there’s a good chance that the proposed decriminalization bill will follow the same fate as any previous laws. Within the next month or so the Crown will no longer be able to delay and will force the cops to start giving pot back to those charged. This John Turmel is the guy who had over 7 pounds of marijuana on him when he smoked a joint and forced the RCMP to arrest him on Parliament Hill. John has won his case and he is going all the way to the Supreme Court to get his pot back. The Crown is confused… they have never given pot back in 80 years but that too will come to an end soon. John’s not a lawyer, just a smart guy who has been a thorn in the Government’s side for years.

BTW, I just read where some Provincial officials believe that helicopter (not that we get any here) surveillance and heat-seeking devices for detecting grow ops are an invasion of privacy and therefore unconstitutional. This will soon be challenged in court no doubt.

The plants are doing well thank you. I’m trying to stay away from them as much as possible. I only go and see them every three weeks or so to give them a little phosphorous to help the buds get big.

On another note, I was out walking in the bush with my buddy and his dogs and I came to a clearing that I never knew existed in that area. It was beautiful and perfect for growing next years crop. The best thing is that it’s accessible during the day, which will be a whole new way of growing for me. I see that with this new grow spot I could go and visit them anytime I wanted. I think we’ll be getting our planting area ready this fall for next years grow.

I'll be posting more when we harvest and take you through that process.
Remember... there's no law against it.

Cool Smoke in Jamaica

In the 80’s I had the opportunity to catch a last minute flight to Jamaica, all included trip for dirt-cheap. I was traveling alone but had the option of being included as part of a group of Travel Agents from Canada, spending 5 days getting to know a part of the island paradise.

We left early in the morning, my first priority is to score some local smoke to go along with the two fresh packs of zig zags I had in my secret hiding place in my kit. I check into the room and get ready to make the bus trip to town for lunch and a chance to browse the market area. I finish lunch quick, pass on desert and make a b-line for the market to check out the smoke situation. The third booth had carved boxes and bowls that looked like they could be used to hold your stash and papers. This is where I would enquire about smoke. The lady had some and I just wanted enough for a couple of joints, I’d brought my own papers. She opened a box under the counter, grabbed a handful and wrapped it in some tissue paper. The price? It worked out to $1Cdn. I gave her two… I might be back for more.

We’re on the bus, back to the hotel, and the afternoon is all ours. The people I met were going to the private beach, not far from where we had lunch. The driver said he would wait for us and drop us off at the beach. We would have to make the 20min walk back to the hotel on our own.

I’m back at the rooms and I open up my stash, grab my papers and roll myself a joint.
Fire it up and… nothing!!! I was so disappointed. It was terrible. I take another look at it and it’s like, old and dry, not a decent nugget in the bunch! I smoke the joint and I’m not feeling very much at all. That’s it. I’m taking it back! I look out the window ‘n see the bus is still here…

I get on the bus with my stash, a pack of papers and go to the beach for a little bit. The sun is doing me in so I tell everyone I’m going to head back to the hotel and I’d meet them for dinner. I make my way back to the booth I got the smoke from, waiting till all the browsers are gone, I say to the lady. “Remember Me?? She said she did and asked if I wanted some more of the smoke. I said, “no… I couldn’t smoke it?. “Too strong? she asked. I said “no, too weak?. I gave it back to her and said, “I don’t even want the money back you keep it, if you like it you smoke it?. I told her I smoke a lot at home and I wanted to find some real good smoke. “Not the kind you sell to tourists.? “The kind you keep for yourself.? She smiled… yelled out a name and a kid came running in. She asked me where I was staying, I told her the place and that I was on my way back. She could get me what I was looking for… She said something to the kid and he was off like a shot. She told me to take my time going back and that her husband would meet me just before my hotel at the “two stone pillars?. His name is Jocko.

On the way back every person is trying to get me to buy stuff. Coke, smoke, trinkets and trash… “No thank you…no thank you…? I had my connection now. Eventually they stop following me as I walk out of town down the seaside on a dead-end road, enjoying a quiet walk along the ocean. Its sunny and hot and I’m taking advantage of every opportunity to walk in the shade. Soon enough I get close to the hotel and I hear “you want to buy some ganja mon? “No thank you…? I said it so much it became a reflex action. Then he says the magic word. “You come see Jocko… Jocko got dee beeeeest mon!?

Here’s this guy leaning against, the previously mentioned stone pillars, with an infectious smile. “You come smoke what Jocko smoke mon.? I told him I wanted to buy a couple of joints, he pulled out three huge spliffs all rolled in tissue paper. “How much?? I asked. It was like 3 bucks Canadian, I gave him five. He gives me the three and lights one of his own, exact same spliff that he gave me. He says to me “Jocko smoke w’chew? and he takes a couple long draws off the spliff and hands it over. I take three good draws, each seemed to flow and came through easy, like drawing on a burning bush… WOW!

It hits me like a ton of bricks, I hand off the spliff and I’m down on all fours, coughing, hacking and a little gasping as time went on. Fluid was spewing from everywhere possible. I kept my head down… I knew it wasn’t pretty. Took me a moment or two to gain my composure enough to raise a hand with a thumbs-up sign in response to his question and concern for my well-being… speech was not an option at the time. He was having a good laugh but was still genuinely concerned. Again, not looking at him, with head down, I pointed to a large leaf on a bush and asked if it was poisonous. A bit stunned, he said “no… that’s Jamaican toilet paper? “Perfect! That’s just what I need? I said as I grabbed a big one and blew my nose, got up, wiped the tears on my sleeve and let out a couple of good hacks. I was on a serious buzz!!! I look at him with a huge perma-grin and he’s passing the J back to me, it’s three quarters gone by now. I wave him off “no, I’m good, I’m flying!? “Thanks man!? I said as I handed him a pack of zig zags…
It was time to get a drink at the bar and enjoy the stone.

Cool Jamaica Part II

The pack of zig zags is worth more than the money he tells me. He can roll little joints to sell to tourists. He brings out the cash & goes to give it back to me and just keep the papers. “No, that’s OK, you keep it? I said. He tells me if I need more to just come and see him ‘cause I’ve already paid for it. A handshake and we go our separate ways… “You come see Jocko, he got de beeeeest? <SMILE>

I get back to the bar and I’m the only tourist at the pool. “Can I get a Rum Punch and some Bob Marley please?? I grab a seat at the bar. The bartender and hotel-staff are getting things set up for the dinner crowd. He asks out loud “do we have any Bob Marley for our friend ‘ere?? “ Him wanna hear some? The workers look over as they saunter by and seem to perk up ‘cause one of the guests wants to hear Bob while they work, a good deal for all no doubt.

The bartender can see that I’m a newbie and proceeds to give me my first lesson on how to enjoy the island. “Soon come mon… soon come? that’s the most important thing he can teach me. He points out that everything is “rushing? where I live but not here… I’ve got to learn how to relax come down from the “rushing? and learn to enjoy the pace of the island. The sooner I learn that, the better I will enjoy myself ‘cause “soon come…? I’ll be gone, “rushing again?. A drum riff over the PA and we’re stoned and Jammin…

No one smoked from the group other than a late night toke here and there just to say they tried it but they encouraged me to smoke on the bus if I wanted. I think the old ladies were getting a kick out of the smell, a story to tell about when they were in Jamaica and smelled pot. They were cool with it and seemed quite happy to experience the smell, as I would light up at the back of the bus. The driver took a liking to me and would stop anytime I needed a beer. I just had to catch his eye in the rearview mirror and he would make like it was an official stop for the tour. I didn’t smoke all the time cause the stone seemed to last most of the day and night. I rolled 10 joints from two of the spliffs and saved one party spliff for the group.

I still had the Party Spliff and two joints left when we boarded the bus to take us to the airport for the trip home. I lit up the spliff in the back, offered it to the group. “Party Spliff?? A few chuckles and the chatter seemed to pick up. “Last chance…? “It’s Going?? There were those who would dare others but there were no takers, so I smoked it all myself. “Going??? It was burning down to a roach. “Gone!!!? “A big Awww from the bus followed by a bit of laughter.

Just as the bus got to the gates of the airport I flicked the roach and the last two joints out the window. The guy sitting next to me asked why I fired those out the window. “Who needs the hassle through customs for a couple joints?? I said “Now I can relax ‘cause I don’t have anything on me.?

We get to Toronto and I’m first to go through customs… they give me a “red card? when everyone else gets yellow. They direct me to, two double frosted glass doors. I have nothing on me so I’m not concerned but still, I do have a pack of papers. The best they can do is scare me. I go through the doors and I’m out!!! I’m with the general public waiting for the arrivals of friends and family, they never even searched my stuff. As one of my friends came through after customs searched all his stuff along with everyone else on the plane, said to me. “I don’t know why they didn’t search you… ‘cause I could smell you on the plane, 3 rows back?. “You stink of pot!? “You could have brought back those two joints.? “Nah…? I said. “Would have been a different story… I did the right thing and I’ve still got a buzz.?

Thumbs up The Harvest

We went out to harvest the plants, late on a moonlit night. I could see my marker for the hole in the fence. I didn’t need a flashlight to get close to the girls. I can see my previous paths, where I’d stepped before was dead and crispy, everything was dying. I know the area well now and I get to where they’re clustered and stop. Standing there I see all these big fat black things, they were backlit by the moon, I move in for a closer look, I could see all these giant Q-tips sticking up everywhere, no leaves, just sticks and buds. I reached forward and hesitate, I check the stem to make sure I planted it, then touched it and could feel how dense the flower was. I shine my light. I see purple, lots of it. There were just a few small thin single-fingered leaves mixed in with the bud. My fingers are sticky already and there’s this sweet smell… I start taking stock, counting, all live and dead accounted for. I grab them and uproot them, Stepping one foot on the roots I yank them up and loosen up the clump. I’ve collected them all, the perfect bouquet. I can’t get over how sweet that smell is. Is that ever sweet! It smells like blueberry pie filling. Another look around, I could smell them, double checking the count and I’m out of there.

We get it to his house and get it under the light. Everything was purple or a rich burgundy, the odd hint of green. We’ve got them hanging in a cool, dry and dark place, until after Thanksgiving. I cut off a bottom bud and took it home.

Cool Happy Thanksgiving!

Here’s a pic of one of the very bottom buds. The bud’s not manicured in anyway, that’s the way they grow, very few leaves. I wish you could smell it.

I always thought people smoked the leaves. What part is it exactly that folks find so yummy?

The buds(flowers) are the best part, as in Qwiz's photo. Leaf contains comparatively little THC, so it takes a lot more to get any effect.

Some people smoke only leaf though- I know several older people who have smoked for decades, and have cut back to leaf because the effects aren't anywhere near as great.
