Which fool wrote that?

When he created the laws of nature, did he know what results they would produce? And if he didn't, why wouldn't he correct unintended consequences when they emerged? Even if we accept your account, it still seems to me that God is responsible for the creation and existence of the rabies virus.

Also, it won't do to say that God left it up to us to find a cure for rabies. Rabies affects non-human animals as well as humans. And what about the distemper virus? Distemper affects only non-human animals. What justification can there be for God afflicting non-human animals?
I think that God initially created the world in a manner where God would not necessarily be needed. The animals do not need God, because they act in a prescribed manner. Blame it on the apple, or the Watchers, or whatever but mankind is flawed. Animals are affected by disease much as we are because of population control. The only diffrence is that we seek out solutions to defeat disease, but ignore the contributing factors. I do not feel that it is wrong to try to understand the world, but not if we ignore the whys.

Yes, we will never find the Absolute Truth, but it is the journey and not the destination. We should still try to understand the world.

Plants and fungi have population control without hideous agonising pain. So it's possible. But non-human animals are afflicted with all kinds of disease and parasites causing monstrous pain--and you're suggesting that it's because it's necessary for population control? Why doesn't God spot the obvious mistake? Or does he just not care about animals being slowly tortured to death? What would you say about a human who felt that way?

Assuming that the absolute truth is something that exists in some form of course.

Not so much these days, but theists still exert political power to inflict a whole host of nasty unpleasantness on society, and on the individuals that compose society.

OTOH, atheists burn religionists in debate all the time (i.e., "burn" in the colloquial sense use by the actors on "That 70s Show").
