[T2]Why do you think Jesus was portrayed as a pacifist as well as a rebel?[/T2] I replied, in post #32 [T2]That question is answered in the chart. Antigonus was a 'man of war'. Followed, later, by Philip the Tetrarch, a 'man of peace'. These two historical figures are the backbone, so to speak, of the literary, composite, figure of the gospel JC.[/T2] Quote:
Additionally, on the 'man of war' element in the composite gospel JC - have a look at this article: Why is the Hypothesis that Jesus Was an Anti-Roman Rebel Alive and Well? http://www.bibleinterp.com/articles/...er378008.shtml As to Philip the Tetrarch being a 'man of peace': A quote from an old History Book (referencing Josephus) Quote:

Antigonus, Hasmonean, lost his life in a destructive war when he sided with the invading armies of Parthia. His killer and political enemy was King Herod, an allied of Rome.
Phillip, Herodian, is a minor politician in the immediate post war period and believes that peace with the all-powerful winner of the war is the right policy, Phillip is like Chancellor Conrad Adenauer in post war Germany, but of an infinitively less political significance. So, the argument consist of the following: A defeated leader is followed by a compromising minor politician .This is said to make Jesus a composite invention and to explain the birth of Christianity and 2000 years of history and the conversion of the inhabitants of the Empire? |
