A very wise man once sed to me after a long discussion of these matters
"I believe because I want to believe". Understanding that this is by far the majority position will save us a great deal of chagrin at the rejection of a rational approach. Religion is only sustained "...utilizing about every logical fallacy available..." by the likes of the apologists which inhabit these forums. The remainder of the religiosi will just accept the prevailing dogma. It doesn't matter what it is. They want an answer to the question 'what's it all about Alfie' & then to get on with the practicalities of life. There are plenty of ready made answers out there and so they find one. The trouble with fellows like you & I is that we do not want an answer. We want to know. |
