That got me wondering (or even pondering), so I did a Google search for the words "Banned" "from" and "IIDB".

I was only able to find 5 people who were commenting on being banned from here.

Of those five, one was complaining on multiple other boards about his banning here - and saying it was unjust and that he was being discriminated against and persecuted.

Two accepted that they had been warned about breaking the rules here about insulting and flaming other users, but would rather continue their insults and be banned than refrain from abusing other members.

And two mentioned in passing that they had been banned but gave no details.

With the exception of the one with persecution claims and one of the "no details" ones, all these were on different boards, so there was no "community" or "support group" of banned IIDB members.

Ooh - we cross-posted.

I doubt your five are the same people as the five I found (who, it occurs to me, are all atheists).

Are you talking about people who have actually been banned and are not happy with their bans, people who are not banned but have problems with the moderation here, or simply people who don't like it here because of the atmosphere?

Hmm. Actually, come to think of it, I'm not sure whether any of 'em are banned. At least one, I believe, is... But I think in most cases, it's not any kind of persecution thing, although at least a couple think the moderation here is bad.

On the other hand, at least some people I know who have mostly lost interest in IIDB over conflicts with staff had conflicts like "too much anti-theist bigotry", and I think that we have at least one or two empirical measures suggesting that this is improving. (Of course, other people are offended by it.)

I think that's the essential difference. Here, the people who want a club with a big sign saying "NO GURLZ ALLOWED" are listened to, but not catered to. At CF, they're by far the majority.

Well it looks to me that that ruling didn't travel all the way down.

Why can't we elect a president that makes sense?

Consider the following rule from the Politics Forums: "As much as you may not like our current elected officials, or those running against them, remember that it is the office that deserves respect at all times and being as that office is staffed by a human being that person also deserves respect as do their opponents. Insults and character attacks are never appropriate."

I believe I'll be appealling that thread closure.

I am waiting to see how long the thread about Jeff Gannon lasts. Saw a post in there that infered that Bush might be gay!!

As soon as the Colonel sees that I predict a tread closure or warnings/bans.

Mistermystery reporting in. Banned for a while, not sure how long.

Apperently Bradford (you know the young earth creationist mod (OH, HOW CONVIËNT)) has warned me for the second time in a row and therefor I am banned. I don't know if this is the right thread for it, but I thought I might let some of the CF-users (hi thebear) know.

This is the right place.

FYI Bradford is registered here as "thechickenman".

Then hi Bradford, glad you could make it. No hard feelings, but indirect I find it very unfair of you to ban me like that.

How was that? ... I mean - How did you search them?
