Default Jesus' OTHER "friends"

Jesus' OTHER "friends"

There is another thread on this forum about Jesus and the donkey he rode into Jerusalem. The gospels raise some questions about those who provided the donkey.

Take a look......
Quote:
Mark 11:1-6 (King James Version)
1And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
It would appear that friends of Jesus provided the donkey. They were unknown to Jesus' disciples. So who were they?

Jesus' friends also provided the Passover.........
Quote:
Mark 14:12-16 (King James Version)
12And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

13And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
Here we have two instances of friends of Jesus providing the "props" for Jesus. Friends who are unknown to Jesus' disciples, but help to "stage" the "Triumphal entry into Jerusalem," and the "Last Supper". The conspiracy even uses recognition signals. [The question "why are you doing this...the answer "The lord has need of it, and the man with the jug]

So who are these friends of Jesus. We don't know. The Gospels don't explain.
Perhaps there is another unknown layer to this Jesus story?

Any ideas or thoughts????

Another "miracle" perhaps?

Disciples: (*Jedi hand wave*) You will not be needing this colt.
Stableboys: Uh... We won't be needing this colt.
Disciples: You have prepared it for the Master.
Stableboys: ... we... we've prepared it for the Master. Take it.

I think the intent is that the reader is to entertain the idea that Jesus knew of both situations(donkey and the man w/the room) in a miraculous way. While also, in a roundabout way, showing the disciples amazement and in effect again saying to the reader "look the disciples are awed as you should be too". I could be completely off base though.

I didn't see it that way.
But I don't believe that miracles are possible.

I don't believe it either. I just searched out what may have been the most plausible explanation for the way it was written. I have a (bad)habit of doing that ... attempting to figure out the writers motive(s) or finding an alternate for stated one. I can be rather cynical. My personal feelings are that manipulation and control are the ultimate motives for the stories of the Bible. More so now than when originally written - I think there is more at stake for modern church leaders. This is just my opinion tho.

It could be the writers way to say that God's way are mysterious, just do as the text tells you, don't question your spiritual leaders. that kind of mentality set out as role models by a story of the leader knowing more than the believer. To be able to read God's will.

The text also seems to say that if you say that the "Lord" needs it as a gift then they gladly provide it. Give and you will be given. Most texts in that book is a kind of proscription on how to behave as a believer.
