My advice would be don't go to RR. It's not a very good place.
I'd go so far as to call it a Very Bad Place.
They allowed a poster to damn my youngest daughter to Hell.

The first time I went there I had been posting at Landover Baptist and I thought RR was just another parody site.
Caught on quickly that these people were for real.

If you absolutely MUST go, give us your exact coordinates so we can beam you out when they go for your throat.

I think even some anti-rapture Christians are banned,or at least dissuaded from continuing to post there. One thing for sure is they are dead serious...but only in a Ned Flanders kind of way.

Anyhow,if anyone does go there, please ask them about that whole "last trump" thing, and being "caught up" when it blows.
And how exactly that the "last" trump somehow does not mean the literal "last" one?
[I.E.--pretend like your just another curious Christian who has the audacity to not believe everything you're told...but that you're trying to overcome this inherit weakness. Only the best ammo will do against my fellow ignorant brothers/sisters-in all due reverence, honor, and obesiance to their ultra-noble stance, and undaunting courage in their quest to "fly away" from all the trouble to come.]

But then if it's not even worth my time to go there, well then the rest goes without saying....

Good advice. I suggest adding a lot of "In my opinion" and "I think" and "It could be argued that..." in each post. That way, you can snidely jab them while retaining plausible deniability.

Seriously, why do atheists want to go visit these fora? I just don't see the interest in it myself. The closest I've gotten is someone sent me a link to the top whatever biblical ways to find a wife. It was supposed to be funny. It wasn't.

Do you hope to understand them better?
Do you hope to deconvert some?
Do you hope to show them atheists are not all evil?
Do you just enjoy annoying people?

Since the topic is RR and this thread is in ~E~ already anyway.. I just had to share the following:

Interestingly, after catching up with all the news on the Middle East peace process and the funeral of the murderous terrorist Yasser Arafat, I was reading an article about atheists. Much like many liberals disenfranchised by President Bush's reelection, it seems many atheists are considering leaving the United States of America to escape the horrors of living in Jesusland. Although I never lend a great deal of credit to anything said by an atheist, I found one comment in the article quite interesting:

"I think unless the country gets a belly-full of this over the next four years and this turns around, the future of civilization will shift to Europe or elsewhere and not be led by the U.S. administration."

How about that? Even atheists can see that, unless those of us living in Jesusland (I just love seeing our nation called that) turn things around/forget about God, the future of civilization will shift to Europe and not be led by the United States.

We know the end times must be upon us when even the atheists can envision the revived Roman empire being the future of human civilization, especially when they see it that way because the EU represents a Godless form of human government! Amen?
(emphasis mine)

wow.. obvious case of "dropped on head during infancy"

Bwahaha! Wow, and all this time I didn't realize America being a super power was the only thing keeping back the End Times...

Anyways, if you must argue with christians, why not Christian Forums? It's horrible, but at least its better than RR, which really isn't saying much.

Sigh...how I wish for a website for fair and even debate between the theists and the atheists...

That's why I registered over at RaptureReady. That and to educate people about evolution.

I have no problem if people choose to not believe evolutionary theory - but they deserve to know what it is that they are rejecting (since many of them simply reject Creationist straw-man versions of evolution without realising that these are dishonest rhetoric that bear no resemblence to actual evolutionary theory).

I got my first "official" warning (they have a policy of 3 warnings = ban) over there recently, for the "despicible" (sic) crime of morally equating homosexuality with infertility.

Of course, the real irony was that I was very careful to do no such thing and I never made any comment on the morality or otherwise of homosexuality.

Naturally, despite both myself and one of the Christians over there pointing out that I was being warned for something I did not do - the warning stood.

Apparently, the only way for the warning to be possibly rescinded would have been for me to make a public apology for what I allegedly said - even though everyone agreed that I had not actually said it...

Basically, some of the guys (and even moderators) over there are decent enough and can enjoy a civil discussion - but a couple of moderators in particular seem to be on a real power trip and exhibit great glee in banning anyone whom they dislike (i.e. anyone who is not a Fundy Republican).

I've given up posting there now. Partly because it was taking up too much of my time to post detailed and evidence-filled posts that would then simply be ignored or replied to with a barrage of ad-hominem attacks and preachy non-sequitors, and partly because I don't want to give that unpleasant, petty, intolerant tin-pot dictator of a moderator the satisfaction of coming up with feeble excuses and banning me.

All of the above... but probably #2 not as much. There is no hope saving some people.

I considered joining RR once or twice so that I may try my skill at "pretending" to be a ultra-super-hyper-harcore-fundie and trying to "out-fundie" the nutjobs over there. But I balk at the amount of effort it would take to pull it off successfully for any decent amount of time.
