No, seriously, could we keep to the subject, whatever it was?

Good idea. I love Monty Python as much as the next guy, but it is off-topic.

Talking On topic

I believe that this thread has fallen to the wayside because of the efforts of all of us who use our minds. A mind is a frightening thing to most deists. Once again, we have used our Powers of Reasontm and made their arguements(hehe) look as ridiculous as they actually are. The bottom line(cause Stone Cold said so) is that reason has trumped faith again.

Then, we, in our prideful and sinful natures, have scared away our deist friends with the most powerful computing device in the known universe. Thus, we have fell into the shameful and despicable act of pointing out the riduculousness of the Flood by continuing in our harpooning(or is it lampooning?) of their impossible myth. I am ashamed. How dare we, the atheists and agnostics who use our brains rather than our...um...whatever deists use, continue this discussion through the farce of our comedic endevours.

I, for one, will no longer take part in this shameful use of our mighty intellects for the degrading of another human's belief system. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

Then again, maybe not.

----
Seriously, I do think that this discussion is over, unless a creationist wants to put forth any more suggestions that could lead to meaningful discourse from both sides of the debate.

What I object to is how you automatically treat me as an inferior.

Not to mention that many insects have short life cycles with stringent requirements for reproduction (see, for example, the mayflies). Many, like the cicada, live most of their life in larval or pupal stages, only becoming adults for short periods for the purpose of reproduction.

Simply saying that insects could survive on flotsam and jetsam is expressing ignorance of insectivora, their varieties of life cycles, and the requirements for them to survive (which would have been impossible for most in a year-long flood).

Not to kick a man when he is down . . . much . . . but I find it interesting how people will cling a fantasy and make more and more excuses rather than accept that it is a story.

Why?

I think people want something "tangible" for their faith. I just had a conversation with a person who claimed that "they found Noah's Ark in Turkey." Yes, it is easy to laugh--why has no one bothered to send Geraldo to film it?!!--but understand where it comes from.

I'm not sure. But I do know that the more ad hoc reasoning they have to pile on in an attempt to make their fantastic theory float, the more the theory sinks (pun intended).
