You all would be much better off if you stopped reading those Church signs.

They are COMMERCIALS for Gawd's sakes.

Not to be taken seriously in any way. Just pretend you are going to the bathroom to take a leak---just like you would when watching TV and a commercial came on.

And ignore those signs.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Which reminds me------there is a very large billboard next to where I work advertising Jim Beams (or maybe it is Evan Williams------who knows?--memory fails), but some damned brewski or other. Fascinating ads, but I do not understand one thing about those ads except that somebody worked awfully hard on them and was trying to be very clever. Get a new one every month or so.

I have finally decided to just let it go and not puzzle about things like which booze is better than any other.

Due to the similarity of the subject matter, I have merged A BAD Church Banner into this thread.

Thank you,

And we reserve the right to bitch about really horrendously awful commercials, Rat. If this rankles you, go elsewhere. Preferrably right now.

That does not sound right.
I've seen signs that say exactly this in a couple of places. What kind of pleasure can an omni-everything deity derive from a bunch of intelligent primates?

Zeus definitely derived pleasure from sleeping with human woman, quite often. But the xtian god only did it once, and he didn't have physical intercourse like Zeus did in the stories about him. Does the xtian god derive pleasure from tormenting us? Or is it just fun for him to have power and exercise it however he sees fit?

My personal favorite, seen in Pink, Oklahoma:

The most peaceful position is on your knees.

Heh.

Some that drive me mad:

Buddha and Mohammed's tombs aren't empty.

No Jesus, No Peace. Know Jesus, Know Peace.

And of course, the bible belt wouldn't be the bible belt without those billboards along the highway:

You call it Abortion but GOD calls it MURDER (in drippy, bloody red letters).

Will you GO TO HELL or Heaven after death. (Written so that all the words except for "GO TO HELL" are really tiny.)

And my absolute least favorite:

Don't make me come down there.
-God

Hey, God? Suck it.

There's one sign in front of a church that I drive past on my way to the base.

"You think it's hot here?"
--God

Then there's another one I love:

Buy Or Sell Your Car
Special Finance Rates For Military Personnel
Jesus Is Lord

I wonder if they'd let me shop there, or does that last line simply mean they're selling the Chevy Jesus for an ungodly low price?

OK---

I can take a hint. If bitching about lousy commercials amuses you, then have at it and enjoy.
