Hello Pouye I think Biff meant it and probably wanted to say that he'd rather see you get eaten by the natives there. In my opinion you bring the false Gospel to them but don't know the difference because you are still searching for the truth yourself. I think Jesus recommended a millstone for you and yours and I wonder how you deal with that passage. Of course you don't see it that way because a pupil can be no greater than its master. Atheist don't do these kind of things so you have nothing to say to them. Quote:
Cleaners? I think you are wrong and hope you bring there entire camp with you. Quote:
Are you trying to tell us that you are jumping for Jesus now? |

COAS, although I will say we certainly wouldn't agree with each other about some things, at least has shown herself to be respectful of others. Being told that I and others who don't believe as you do should be killed is not a very good way to show that your philosophical approach to life is superior to my own. I hope every atheist on this forum doesn't feel like anyone who doesn't believe as they do should be murdered. Rock ![]() |

Just to set the record straight: Biff The Unclean is an atheist, but Amos who also replied so judgmentally to you is a strange kind of self-defined Reactionary Catholic. As you know full well from the example of COAS, not every atheist on this forum is jumping up and down and screaming for blood. I'm afraid that you'll simply have to learn by name and character the atheists worth speaking to, and those who are simply dogmatically and theatrically antagonistic. Atheists are not a coherent group and don't react as one, but as individuals, much like anyone else. However, there aren't all that many Reactionary Catholics around, so your view is easier there. Regards, Gurdur (and to make your job slightly easier: I'm a hardcore atheist, but sensible) |

People are weird. Period. Weird people come in all shapes and sizes. I'm sure I have my own share of weirdness, but DAMN... some people are just strange! Some of the weirdest people I know are Christians (or at least claim to be), just in case you think I'm picking on atheists. I was just saying in a polite way to "buzz off"... ![]() Rock |

O.K.---I'll be the "devil's advocate" and suggest that the writer was being thoughtlessly hyperbolic with the comment that "shooting would be too good for them." A few weeks ago in the U.S., a person of note (though I don't remember her name) said in a speech that Britney Spears should "be shot" for undermining the moral values of young women in our country. She apologized for making a stupid comment, and I think that most people will give her the benefit of the doubt that she advocates "murdering" anyone....
I do terribly regret that Biff made such a comment, for whatever reason, since it feeds the perception that atheists are cold-hearted, evil, murdering monsters.... |

Also ironically, Biff the unclean agreed (hopefully jokingly) with this statement:
"Shooting isnt good enough for them." (Referring to missionaries.) The expression is "shooting is too good for them." Biff... btw, I would never talk of shooting atheists. ------ I was just trying make myself clear that I most likely will not respond to jerks. Perhaps that is because Atheists do not organize themselves into groups and set off to the third word intent on destroying the native religions and cultures. If we did the same damage to native societies as your cult does I would expect you to condemn us. If we drug our babies and little children off to the jungles and fever swamps I would expect you to show some moral outrage at our callousness. I don't actually want you shot. The PNG government deporting all Missionary "jerks" (the term you used I believe) would be sufficient. |

If you could see what these Missionaries have done across the Pacific your heart would be broken for the indigenous peoples |

(Missionaries also come in all shapes and sizes...) My own organization (Wycliffe) has had to address some of the mistakes of our past, although I will say that I believe they have done an outstanding job in relation to some other missions in regards to respecting the cultures of indigenous peoples. My heart actually HAS broken when I have seen some of the things which missionaries have done not only in the Pacific, but other places, as well. I am not oblivious to the mistakes of well-meaning, yet misguided missionaries. For example, the people I work with were told to "throw away" all of their "singsings" (traditional dances) by missionaries from Christian Missions of Many Lands (CMML) 50 years ago. I recently challenged them to think about their traditional dances and ask themselves questions about them. Their decision: They want to revive them -- all but the a few which celebrated the cruel deaths of their enemies (ending in a human blood feast). I am very excited to see them thinking about some of the beautiful things which never should have been thrown away. Biff... do you also hate all missionaries who work with World Vision, World Concern and the Salvation Army? What about the many missionary agencies world wide which distribute food, medical supplies, and personnel to millions of people? I can't help but have the song, "Your a mean one, Mr. Grinch..." playing in my head... Rock |

Or say how the Red Chinese deliberately imposed a policy of harsh atheism upon Tibet, and destroyed many monasterys as well as forbidding the Tibetans free exercise of their religion, as well as importing trustworthy Chinese colonists into Tibetan land ? Quote:

BTW, that would be the same PNG government that actually relies on foreign organizations to provide medical aid ? Oh, BTW, missionaries in the Pacific actually saved the peoples there some strife from the American traders; but I don't see you condemning Western forced trade and colonialism at all. _____________ In any case : -----> GRD Moderators This thread started off as quite an interesting thread, rare enough for GRD; should Biff the Unclean's off-topic rantings be allowed to derail it destructively ? Please do a thread split, and keep this thread free of such overly repetitive bad-tempered preaching. |

![]() You and Biff the unclean seem to have found a point of mutual fellowship and agreement between you. Whether your marriage be made in heaven or hell, it's still a marriage, and deserves a cheer for such traditional values ! ![]() |
