Well, Doherty took a consistent approach to revelation. The HJ school would call it the argument from silence. But it does buttress his approach. I cannot think how the HJ school would be capable of using this chapter to advance their case...

It's the Book of "Revelation", not Revelations - (common mistake) which is why you may have been unable to find what you were looking for. Within the 1st 4 verses, it clearly states that it was written by John. Verse 3 claims that God will give a special blessing to those who read it. Forgive me if I seem harsh, but maybe you should read it for yourself, instead of trying to find out what Dr.Google or anyone else might "think" it says. While you're reading it, you may want to cross reference The Book of Daniel, Matthew 24 and 2nd Thessalonians 2 - end times stuff. Try not to read into it - looking for things like Nazi Germany, the EU, Iraq, etc... Crosswalk.com has a whole host of commentaries, concordances, lexicons and such stuff. Enjoy.

Or just plain John the apocalypse writer?

Having a name doesn't tell you who wrote it. We have a name, Daniel, but that doesn't help us understand who wrote the book of Daniel which was written in the century before 164 BCE, though the second half within a year or two of that date.

Having a name for a text might make you feel like you know something, but all that often is is a handle for a text, nothing more.
