I'd think the much more recent event is a far likelier source for the story. There are also elements of the Sumerian story that simply fit a river flood better, like the hero ending up in the Persian Gulf (not the Black Sea).
But the flood in Ur was later found to be much more localised than previously thought. The reason why the Black Sea flood would fit was because it was significantly larger than the other major floods and that those affected fled into all the areas where flood stories had developed later on. the fact that there is a lack of writing further supports the idea that the story had grown from a major to a global flood through oral exaggeration.

Just an interesting side note that some historians believe that this flood was responsible for spreading early agricultural tecniques across Mesapotamia.

You mean a guy who thinking that a flood might be imminent would get himself a boat to accommodate his family, pets, and farm animals in order to try to survive the flood?
You bet!

Don't forget the dove and lets just hope that she finds Eden from where she came.

Ever thought of a word play on Noah and naos?
