Cool Canada will decriminalize pot on March 8th 2004

Hello all, this is my first post.
I've lurked here for some time and just thought you may be interested in hearing about our new freedoms here in the Great White North.

As you may or may not know, the pot decriminalization Bill in Canada has been reintroduced to Parliament. Pot will be decriminalized Monday March 8th, 2004 or the Liberal government will defeat itself and be forced to call an election.
Yes, we have them right where we want them. They have voted to pass it twice now and the third vote is Monday.

The Bill is essentially the same as the previous Bill with a couple of changes.

Bill C-10 Passes Second Reading!!!
The vote on the 2nd reading of Bill C-10, (formerly Bill C-38, the Cannabis Reform Bill), occurred in Parliament today. Of the MP's present, 142 voted for the bill and 84 were opposed. The next (and final vote) takes place on March 8th, at which point it looks like the Bill will be approved.

One of the changes deals with growing. 1 to 3 plants will consist of a fine of no more than $500.00. Down from $5,000 in the previous bill.

Here is the new clause and the fines.

(a) not more than three plants is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to a fine of not more than the amount referred to in item 5 of Schedule VIII ;

1. $300 or, in the case of a young person,$200
2. $150 or, in the case of a young person, $100
3. $400 or, in the case of a young person, $250
4. $300 or, in the case of a young person, $200
5. $500 or, in the case of a young person, $250

So if I did get caught I can go to court and fight the fine or just pay the damn thing. If I win I walk away. If I lose I pay the fine. It’s that simple. No criminal record.

SENATE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON ILLEGAL DRUGS
CANNABIS: SUMMARY REPORT

D. Production for personal use
Amend the Act to create an exemption to the criminal offences provided in the CDSA in order to permit the personal production of cannabis so long as it is not sold for consideration or exchange in kind or other and not advertised or promoted in any other way. In addition, quantities shall be limited to ensure production is truly for personal consumption.

Another change is to protect the privacy of Canadians who paid the fine. It will now be illegal for any law enforcement agency to give out the details of who paid these fines.
Any previous possessions convictions on the books will be expunged. Like they never existed in the first place.

U.S. Customs can ask if you have ever been fined for pot but the answer will always be no.
They have no way to check.

I want to control the sun, wind and rain. Yes, I want to be the God of 25 cubic feet.

So true!!!
Try and copy the link and paste to your address bar. That worked for me. Let me know if you have problems with it? Sorry I'm a newbie here.

Man, all that's there is a breakdown of the fines. Hell, they don't even specify amounts of pot.

Where did you pull this March 8th date from? And if its true, Hey, the sooner the better!

Of course, if you're taking it for "medicinal purposes" or somehow the records accidentally get turned over to an American company - say hello to the FBI!

15 gms or less will result in the fine.

3rd and final vote comes on Monday.
Remember, the Senate wanted it legalized in the first place.
