I think this is one of saddest statements I've read in some time. It's honest, but it's truly sad. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge is a wonderful thing. I've read the thoughtful responses listing many good reasons as to why one would want to increase their knowledge of the world around them. In my view knowledge is a worthy end in itself. Period. The above statement is what I often hear referred to as arrogant ignorance. The hubris kicks in when you reject that which you haven't even bothered to examine.

2. We point you books to read, which answer your questions. 3. Assuming you actually want answers to the questions you ask, then you already have a "reason to read". It's not a reason you lack, Davey; what you lack is initiative (among other things). |

I don't care if you read the Qur'an. Why don't you read "Origin of the Species" by Darwin?

All of it. And the Book of Mormon. And the Doctrine and Covenants. And the Pearl of Great Price. And the Bagh-i-Muattar. And the Necronomicon.

Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. are all religions. They also make the claim to "not being a religion, but being TRUTH." You seem to think that only christianity was clever enough to come up with that little bit of marketing spin. You're wrong. |

I think it is honest, its just that what he considers a good reason is different that most peoples'. I would venture to guess that the only "good" reason is that it agrees with what he already believes.
