Eve's Bayou was a movie that, for the scenery and the sheer power of the story as well as how it was filmed (especially the mirror sequences) was absolutely mesmerizing. Not as visually stunning as LotR or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but it completely held your attention with how images helped propel the story along.

Gladiator, just because they had so many great shots and such a wonderful score to go with it. And another vote for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Here's a third person who's seen Hero although it wouldn't rate quite as high for me; Still a good movie though. I'd also second the LotR trilogy, :notworthy to everyone who was a part of producing it. To add to the list, Mononoke Hime was incredible. It contains the most breathtaking animation I've ever witnessed (and no CG).

I have seen Hero as well. I especially enjoyed the introduction fight and the lake fight, dispite the silly drop flinging.

Space Chef mentioned Werner Herzog -- agree, agree. That man made some beautiful movies. I think "Nosferatu" wins, though; every frame is like a painting. It is also a very good movie. |

I think Lost in Translation is a very beautiful movie. The neon lights from the night life in Tokyo was bright and colorful. The downtown shots from in the apartment was so awe inspiring I had a tear in my eye. I have a thing for skyscrapers and their beauty. Minority Report was also beautiful especially with the blue motif that it had. Gorgeous.

Topsy-Turvy - All of the ugliness of late Victorian London beautifully rendered, with jarring emphasis on the contrasts between on-stage fantasy and the real world.
