While I don't think the evidence provided is exceptionally compelling, I think it's a bit strong to say it's no evidence at all. If the Dawkins version of the Problem Of Evil is an argument, so is "but there is happiness, too".

It's just an assertion, not evidence. Substitute John Frome or the IPU for God in the OP and you have exactly the same amount of evidence that they created love, happiness and music as God did. |

Hello seebs...well, I felt it was not much of a argument to put forth. "Love and music are like magic" isn't an argument or evidence of a deity, IMO. It may be evidence of something I guess, but a deity? Had the OP demonstrated how music is like magic, or put forth any kind of argument....fine...but he/she did not
I am especially confounded as the OP has weak atheist in his/her profile. |

I wouldn't call it magic, but the right music playing at the right time sure adds a lot to a nice dance,

![]() I made this post because that day I was going to buy stuff and some christian guy came and chat with me, he goes on and told me how god is real because of love and music and stuff like that(similiar to the OP), so I told him that those two have no relationship at all. but he slapped me with the following quote(or something similar): Quote:
![]() ![]() ![]() and he goes on n told me how god created us and love us all... I didn't know how to respond. So I want to see how you guys "butt" it ![]() |

/* From a programmers view, if God is real, then God is a variable. /*
#define God real static beginning(void) { darkness = call light evil = call light.good STOP UNTIL SILENCE=1 } /* as you can see from inside the func, God is definitely beyound the void */ /* can anybody improve this piece of shidd? */ |

Just because some fluffy associations don't consititute evidence, doesn't mean that no evidence could be offered at all. But if you assume that no evidence could ever be offered, then perhaps you ought to seriously consider the possibility that this means your God really doesn't exist. How you turn this weakness in your own beliefs into an argument against atheism is beyond me, but if you really think the whole project is so meaningless, then I fail to see why you would find it necessary to argue the point here. It is not the fault of the administrators here that the object of your beliefs has no evidence to speak for it. |

Why would god allow me to make music and be in love if I rejected him? Perhaps he's grasping at straws in a last-ditch effort to make himself known to me? But then, my guitar-playing skills have only increased since I became an atheist. I don't think god has anything to do with it, but practice sure does! Or try this one: "Can you explain why vicious psycopaths murder people for fun? No? Then god must be real!" |
