So Davey boy (me ol' scholar of myths and legends), now that you have been informed that many people here are thoroughly familiar with not only the bible you know but quite a lot of other Christian literature would I be correct in assuming that you will be retiring this sidetrack and returning to the wonderfully on-topic (by your own admission) and interesting (by your own assertion) questions that (by your own promise, a thing to be valued more than gold) you are going to address in the following thread?
http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=202259&page=31 To refresh your memory here are the particular questions that currently interest me greatly. http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.p...98#post4589298 And here is your wonderfully co-operative and ever so ethical reply. http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.p...16#post4592916 Looking forward to hearing your views, Professor Hawkins. |

I'm also looking forward to an appearance from Dave in this thread to tell us all where the "massive global flood deposit" is ...
Still no sign of him visiting the thread though. I wonder why? Answers on a postcard to the usual address ... |

My reading is limited to the OT, but only really a few books - the Torah, Ruth, Ecclesiastes, Job, Samuel, Kings, Psalms and maybe one or two more. I convinced my reading group to do some of these OT books. My question to you - are you surprised at the responses on this thread? |

I would say that there are more people than I expected that have read it, yes. There are still some I wonder about who have not posted yet.

Well, at the very least, it is clear that a large fraction of people on this forum have read a least a large portion of the Bible, some of them many times.
Furthermore, quite a few of these Bible readers (like me) are former theists whose faith was eroded by their study of the Bible. Is there anything else that you would like to know on this subject? |

So, dave is surprised that atheists/skeptics have read and reread the Bible and still don't believe! How can that be? That theists finally sat down and read it in detail instead of in predigested bits, and stopped believing! How can that be as well?

By "the Bible", do you mean "the world's best cure for insomnia"?
