Okay, on the subject of religion and deities and that one Jim Carrey movie...


If you suddenly aquired god-like powers, or at least the level of power that someone like Q has in Star Trek, what kind of demigod would you be?

Q aparently has the ability to transport things at will. Make new things at will. Shrink or enlarge things, cause all sorts of illusions, and also change his body into whatever manifestation he feels like. And he cannot be killed, except by other Q. I'm probably missing a few items, but my fellow geeks will be sure to correct me.

So, back to the question; what kind of demigod would you be?

--Would you do the Evil Overlord thing and make yourself a Fortress of Doom, using people to benefit yourself?
--Would you sit back and just observe, not interfering in anything?
--Would you sit back and observe, doing a minor tweak here and there? Like make Hitler choke on a pretzel back in '38?
--Would you try to be an active and benevolent god, playing superhero and going around and fixing every problem you could manage?
--Would you do something else?
--Would you make yourself be known to people, or keep hidden?

I'm not going to make this a poll, as its way too broad of a topic, but those are some of the more obvious possibilities. I figure I'd end up being the tweaking observer. Mostly just looking at interesting things and watching history unfold, but also going through and fixing major problems. Leaders who commit genocide would become exceptionally unlucky, placed struck by famine and drought would get good rains, and so forth.

However, rather than let problems continue, such as a population boom due to me relieving a drought, I'd also let myself be known to people and warn them of the error of their ways. After a few warnings and bailing them out of their mostly self inflited problems, I'd then just let them take the full effect and go down and warn them yet again. For things out of control of people, like a comet headed towards the planet...well...that comet shall get a nice smiting.

And again, this is going for major problems only. Chasing down every mugger is not something even a demigod would worry about, but rather the more large scale things that can harm a vast number of people would attract my attention.


So...thoughts?
