By the way, if humans standing before god are unable to talk, how do they sing his praises? Do they go someplace far away and do it, or do they just sit in inarticulate silence for all eternity?

Some are. But I don't stereotype all atheists as being such, where as Starboy pretty much stereotypes all theists as being liars and deceptive.

Believers sing His praises. While we will be in awe, we will be embraced by God. Unbelievers will be in awe and be bowing, but they won't be embraced. And since we already accept God's existence, its not as much of a shock to actually stand before Him as it would be for someone who completely rejects any chance of Him being real.

OK, a simultaneous solar and lunar eclipse.

Yes, wars and famine and so on. Which have never, ever occurred in history before.

1. Don't like his father who he claims to speak for. I prefer my supreme beings not be immature anthropomorphised tyrants like Yahweh, Zeus etc.

2. Really hate the "turn the other cheek" and "love your enemies" crap. That's for sheep and other assorted weak people. I wonder if the biblical analogies of people being lambs and God being the shepherd are cryptic jokes about the people who actually believe.

3. Jesus' message of not living for this world but your future life in heaven. Why be here then if this earthly life isn't meaningful and only foreplay for orgasmic heaven? Maybe I like foreplay and cherish every moment of my existence. And related to my point here, SEX. The christian philosophy that sex is wrong. Well, if loving sex is wrong then I don't wanna be right. To be fair and balanced however that was Paul's hang up not Christ's.

Dream on Magus. Ever notice how these stories sound so much like those of orphaned children.

Not possible. Solar eclipses are caused by the moon passing in front of the sun. It doesn't permanently stop the sun from shining light. You know that whole corona ring as the moon sits in front of the sun?

They weren't as prevelent in the 1st Century. And how about the angels descending from the clouds and sounding Trumpets as Jesus descends from the clouds to gather up the worlds believers? These signs sound the Tribulation. If the Tribulation signs happened during the Apostles life time, we wouldn't exist.

Borg believers. It makes a lot of sense.

Not likely, unless god forces me to do so. Which I wouldn't put past the god of the bible; he seems desperate for attention and praise.

I think the shock will be there for fundamentalists, though. You see, Jesus said that not everyone who says "lord, lord" will be admitted into heaven.
