Certainly, Marx opposed Christian religion, but so would Christ. Marx did not deny the historicity of Christ, which is the sine qua non of anti-Christianism. Lenin and the Bolseheviks did deny the historicity of Christ, and this puts them squarely in the reactionary camp.

But then, that's what a reactionary prick would say, isn't it?

No, a reactionary prick would include an unnecessary attack on the Jews as well.

To be anti-Christian is to be anti-Jewish, for what is Christianity but Judaism for Gentiles?

So what would that make militantly anti-Christian Jews in Hasidic communities?

That's right, they're anti-Jewish, just like the Christian Right is anti-Christian. All extremists are ultimately the opposite of what the espouse.

Because every now and then people do take parts of it seriously, without thinking, just because the Bible has such prestige. And then they oppose evolution, gay rights, cotton polyester blends, eating shellfish, or other parts of modern society.
