Certainly, Marx opposed Christian religion, but so would Christ. Marx did not deny the historicity of Christ, which is the sine qua non of anti-Christianism. Lenin and the Bolseheviks did deny the historicity of Christ, and this puts them squarely in the reactionary camp.

Because every now and then people do take parts of it seriously, without thinking, just because the Bible has such prestige. And then they oppose evolution, gay rights, cotton polyester blends, eating shellfish, or other parts of modern society.
