Is the question supposed to mean "who of the two was greater" or "who was the greatest sage ever"? In the second case, I guess there are some more candidates, such as Buddha, Socrates, maybe Epicurus.

I chose Jesus just for being more gutsy and using more brainteasing allegories (esp in the Gospel of Thomas, if the apocrypha count).
