I don't think you understand how scholarship is - at least in my mind - supposed to proceed. You ask a question - in this case "did the whole gospel narrative only last seventy seven days?" and then you discover that it is possible at least to see the seventy seven day period begin and end with fire. I didn't start out with this objective in mind but since no one had anything else to add the conversation was led to an established interest of mind from a slightly different angle.

Your question obviously aroused in my mind a quite different angle than that of the dual fire and water baptism which you have been pursuing.

Interestingly, and although I wasn't even aware of it when I posted The Pattern, Resurrection Sunday comes after exactly Seventy Seven days of that Pattern;

The 5th day of that week being the 'High Sabbath' 15th day of Abib, the first day of the 'Three Days and Three Nights', The 6th day (Friday) being the 16th day, and the Weekly Sabbath being on the 17th day of the month. Resurrection Sunday being the 18th day of the month of Abib.

A count of 11 full weeks, or exactly 77 full days until that First Day of the week. This also accommodates the full 'Three Days and Three Nights in the heart of the earth'.

I most sincerely Thank you Stephan, as I had not formerly applied any thought at all to this 'Seventy Seven Day' time period, but only in respect to the mapping out of The Pattern of the proper sequence of the days in that particular years First month.

May I ask, what was it that led you to a specifically 77 day time frame?

Events in the Bible are not random but are arranged so as to occur in conformity to a precise Pattern and Schedule.
The first 'Passover' could not have occurred at any other time. The exact year and date of the Crucifixion was based on the sequences of a specific mathematical/geometrical Pattern, and could not have taken place in any other year.

It is 'odd' because it is artificial. The underlying mathematical/geometrical concepts go all the way back to Genesis (-within the Bible- however the ideas are much older than the Hebrew texts that have enshrined them.)

The Genesis story was not created as an accurate account of origins or of this world's history, but to enshrine the Seven day week in a mnemonically memorable setting.
More to the point however, is the Noah and the Flood story. It was 'borrowed' from earlier Mesopotamian mythology, and its important elements are not the fantastic tale itself, but in the mathematical/geometrical construction details of Noah's Ark, and the reported time periods and sequences The story exists to memorialize and to generate an appreciation of SCALE and of PROPORTION and of mathematical relationships, and sequences of exacting time.

Same with the 'Exodus' tales. They are totally fictional creations, serving as colorful and highly memorable mnemonic containers for information about SCALE and PROPORTION, time and space.
This is the reason why hundreds of verses are devoted to measuring the length, breadth, and height of all manner of rectilinear objects throughout the Torah.
(latter, Ezekiel carries this practice to the extremes, devoting 10 chapters from 40 on, to little more that visionary rectilinear measures, and time sequences. Revelations takes up this same theme with its 'measuring reed' measures, and 'three days and an half' time sequences.)

The NT writer's composed their fictional NT tales in conformity to a pre-arranged mathematical trope.
Oh certainly they used their compositions as an opportunity to introduce a lot of ethical teachings via way of of its lead character, but again the entire story was created with the goal of being colorful and outrageously memorable so that the mathematical information contained therein would be permanently enshrined in a place where it would never be lost.
Certainly the significance of all of this detailed mathematical information has long been lost on the majority of readers, who are only focusing on the story, that shiny golden and glittery container.
But what was put inside of that container for safe keeping, was placed there for the day when the container would finally be opened.

I can be only one voice yammering away in the wilderness, but it takes the hearers thereof to seek out, and find those forgotten and 'hidden' things whereof I speaking.
Once you have, then you will know, and none will ever be able to spoil you of it.
