I am not familiar with Biblical archeology but an article I read today spurred me to start this post.

The article was about a tiny carved ivory pomegranate said to be from King Solomons Temple

Apparently it has now been dated to five centuries after Solomon is said to have ruled and the inscription linking it to the temple has been declared a forgery.

It had drawn considerable interest by Christians who I suppose believed it proved the historical accuracy of the Bible

I have read articles in which doubt was expressed that the temple had even existed at the time Solomon was said to have ruled. What I was wondering was the carved pomegranate the only archaeological evidence supporting the claim that the Temple did in fact exist during this time.

Well, umm, errr... the uh, short answer is, you know, umm, yep.

Town way down there on that little outcrop. Temple way up there quite some distance from the town. Improbable, to say the least.

Luckily this forgery ring overreached and was busted. These a$$holes have done tremendous damage to ANE archaeology and history.
