Default formed from dirt

It seems to me the only evidence for creationism is in the bible everybody else in the scientific community has left that 6 days stuff behind hundreds of years ago.

What I want to know is why arn't the creationists also asking that in biology and other classes they teach that we are made of handfuls of dirt as it says in the bible as well? It states this plainly. It would seem though this can so easily be seen as stupid that it is not worth arguing about, yet we let them get away with it in other areas.

I want to know where the proof I am made from dirt is at? Is the fact I am plainly not dirt a lie I keep telling myself because I hate god?

We are all derived from "dirt" if dirt is a collective term for basic chemicals which, via abiogenesis and evolution produced us and all other organisms. So Genesis made a rare correct guess in this case,- but quite reasonable , as even the ancients could surmise that we complex beings came from something simpler, whether via creation or evolution.

Hi everyone...first time posting

When I would hear the "man from dirt" explanation, I always thought they literally meant that god took dirt from the ground and fashioned man in his own likeness.
However, why would god, who is supposedly omnipotent, need dirt to create man (or a rib for a woman) in the first place? Why not create all beings ex nihilo?

i've always wondered about the rib thing in comparison to modern genetic cloning.

That's creation myth #2; creation myth #1 states that both sexes were created at the same time, which is actually more reasonable than the #2 story. Also, in creation myth #1, God creates by commanding, while in #2, he creates in the more physical manner described here. And in #1, God creates rather systematically and is rather happy with what he had done, while in #2, God creates in a rather improvised fashion, and one must imagine him getting exasperated with his favorite creations.

-why indeed?-but why discuss what a mythical being might or might not do?-seems pointless to me.

humans have so many ribs the rib thing is quite a natural story (we surely don't need all of them?)

Sometimes I ask questions like these to fundamentalist friends to see their answer. Because there are so many "what if's" involved when talking about deities, I see it as rather pointless as well, but do enjoy seeing their take on the matter.

They observed that a dead body decomposes into "dirt."

Actually, Michaelangelo, who I recall was quite religious, apparently forgot to read Genesis before he painted Adam reaching for the fingertip of God. Adam has a navel.
