In fact a reputable antiquarian has testified off-the-record that he saw the ossuary previously offered for sale without the inscription several years back. Of course you have to rule out divine intervention. :banghead:

I have found over the years that Hershel shanks has been quite up front with his reporting of archaeoligical findings. Keeping in mind that Hershel Shanks is a faithfull Jew who who's faith will not benefit by anything that helps the historical Jesus cause. One of Hershel Shanks's other publications, Bible Review, is absolutely anti-Christian in context. Hershel Shanks is the driving force behind getting the information to the public about the Dead Sea Scrolls. Yes, Hershel Shanks does support artifacts that are found on the antiquities market and rightfully so. We cannot disregard historical evidence just because it was not found by the "properly authorized" people. I am not supporting or denying the Joseph ossuary. I am simply stating what has been published as of yet and what has been published is far from conclusive one way or the other. It is very dangerous to get into the habit of force fitting perceived evidence to fit a particular belief. Keep an open mind and learn as evidence becomes available. |
