on a more serious note - http://www.christianforums.com/showp...95&postcount=4 why do staff get to be condescending but if I compare a SITUATION to another SITUATION it's a flame against a member??

What, exactly, does "the anointing of a priest" do?

So what, exactly, is a priest, in the Christian faith?

I thought the word "priest" was derived from the Greek presbuteros, which is usually translated "elder." There is no mention of Christian priests in scripture, except those passages that refer to the priesthood of all believers, unless one wishes to translate presbuteros as "priest" instead of "elder."

So on what basis do you say a woman can be an elder, but not a priest?

oooooh weee. Cat, I'm glad you warned me about the salitness of Marmite. I touched the tip of my finger to it to taste it and man is it salty. It smells like really salty jelly. So I only put a tiny tiny bit in the jacket potato and it's quite nice in there.

Hmm, I like the new thread name.

Since I managed to snooze through both L&O's tonight, good night, y'all.

Me too. It's weird that I still get pissed off about trash-talking the mainline even though I'm no longer a part of it. All that "if you don't believe X, where X is my view of the world, you're not a True Christian TM" bs.

Especially since my old church had/has what would probably be described now as extra-ultra-leftist-commie views that women could preach it and that science is compatible with Christianity. It was pretty split on gay priests tho.

Merely one of many titles for clergy.

Sexism and arcane title envy.
