praxeus, I don't find Gill's scripture references to be anything except vague at best. It's a real stretch to try and retrofit those scriptures to predict that the messiah would die and be resurrected on the 3rd day.

It appears to me that Paul referred to OT scriptures just as Jesus was said to have explained to disciples in Luke 24, although neither Paul or Jesus listed any specifics. Probably for good reason, too, since there are no specific scriptures that spell out a prophecy that the messiah will rise from the dead on the 3rd day.

Curious in the extreme IMO that none of the apostles shared what Jesus is recorded in Luke to have explained in detail from the writings of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms. We're left 2000 years later struggling to understand what Paul and Jesus were referring to!
