Paramount to the Christian message is that, whatever our issues are, with God we can overcome them. Homosexuals are not sinful simply by the virtue of being homosexual. They don't have to figure out how to like the opposite sex. The just need to resist sin like the rest of us.

I'm morally allowed to have sex with my wife. I'm not having sex with her right now. It's not impossible to resist sexual relations. It's rather easy once you realize it's actually possible. People just like to pretend it is impossible to justify their actions.

Choosing to deny something as intrinsic to your being as your sexuality is not so easy as going on a diet. We admire your forbearance at refraining from sex while posting. Now you must deny the urge for the rest of your life. I hope for your own self esteem that your wife protests.

Ah, there's the rub. Of course it is too much to deny your sexuality. However, refraining from sticking one's penis into either a rectum or a vagina is not denying one's sexuality. There is so much more to sexual identity than what's between your legs and what you rub it against to achieve orgasm. A celibate is just as authentically sexual as a married person. If that were false, then the myth about men and women being exactly the same save for some body parts would be true, which we know it is not. There are huge differences that are recognizable between men and women that have nothing to do with sexual activity.

Perhaps I should have titled this thread "God creates homosexual sexual identity." If God created heterosexual sexual identity, didn't he also create homosexual sexual identity? If not, why does homosexual sexual identity exist. If free will exists, while adolescents have the ability to choose whether or not to engage in homosexaulity, they do not have the ability to choose their sexual orientation. Whether sexual orientation is caused by genetics, environment, or both, children do not have any control over their genetics, and they have little control over their household environment. If God wanted everyone to have a heterosexual sexual identity, he could easily cause that to happen. If he did, mankind would be much better off because it would eliminate lots of strife, hatred, and persecution. Some homosexuals have said that they wished that they were able to have a heterosexual sexual identity because their lives would be much easier if they did. It is no fun being a persecuted minority.

Although it would be helpful if God caused everyone to have a heterosexual sexual identity, who would expect a God to do that who refuses to protect women from rapists, and kills people and innocent animals with hurricanes. God is not in the business of protecting people. He is in the business of injuring and killing people and innocent animals, with no apparent benefits for himself or for anyone else.

At least fundamentalist Christians will have to admit that God created parasites, which by the way have killed more people than all of the wars in history. That makes discussing how many people Hitler and Stalin killed irrelevant.
