Funny this question should be asked now. Serendipity.
I've been asked to do remote assistance from sister's WinXP PC to her friends WinXP PC in another town. She wants me to help this lady clear up all the crap on her PC that's causing pop-ups, those bastard installed programs like Gator, etc, and other PC hi-jacking rubbish that one gets from the net when using IE. Both PC's will be connected via 56k dial ups - will this be a big issue? Will I be able to help clean this woman's PC, or will the dial-up make it a problem? I can handle slow, as long as the task is achievable... Cheers! |

Both PC's install this, and must be running the software during the remote asistance, right? (Told you it was a stupid question, but just making sure). Does it work better than NetMeeting? |

Only the pc you are going to control really needs to install anything.
The viewer (used from the controlling pc) is a stand alone executable. For NT/2K/XP machines VNC can be installed as a service to start automaically wen the computer boots up, or can be left as a seperate application that has to be launched prior to a remote control attempt. I Like VNC better than Netmeeting. VNC is faster and easier to setup. |
