Why do Christians assume that 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 is not an interpolation? How can we be reasonably certain one way or the other? What would have prevented the passage from being added by someone else in the 2nd century?

Loisy and Munro are still the leaders in this area IMHO. Loisy argued that just about half of the "authentic 7 epistles of Paul" consists of interpolations.
Munro gave a very long list of possible interpolations, using a somewhat different methodology, but still relying on Loisy to a significant extent. Some bibliography is here, http://www.trends.ca/~yuku/bbl/al3.htm I don't know to what extent Walker is using Munro or Loisy (Walker's book is still on my to-do list). In any case, it may be easier to compile a list of the passages that are _unquestionably_ authentic, than to compile a list of those that have been suggested as interpolations. Cheers, Yuri. |
