I propose that we clone Jesus Christ from the shroud of turin.
This will make human cloning acceptable to the Christians as it will fulfill their prophecy of the return of Jesus Christ or the Messiah. This idea is copyrighted by me and if anyone steals it they will burn in hell. ![]() |

What if the process produces more than one viable embryo?
I don't want to see what happens to the person who disposes of them. |

While we're at it, let's clone Venus from Boticelli's The Birth of Venus.

Just think - maybe even 2 Catholic Jesi (is Jesus Latin, or what is the plural for Jesus?) - one pre-Vatican II, one post Vatican II. Let's see: are there 4 or 5 Luthern Synods in the US? And who gets custody of Baby Jesus in the case of a split? Would each and every person who believe they have a direct line to god need their own Jesus? And what about the Unitarians? Do they get one or not? Or do they get a random offspring from any number of religious figures? Or do they get a combination of all of them? Would the surrogate mothers need to be virgins. Do they then pass along "original sin" to the Jesi? What happens if one or more turn out to be gay? Just think of the theological ramifications. Simian |

Does anyone want to seriously discuss this? Otherwise, I see a bright future for this thread in ~E~.

There are Christians who credit their god for all of the accomplishments of science. In other words, they believe all of our advances are part of "god's plan". Obviously it appears extremely unlikely that a jesus is going to suddenly pop into existence or be born of a virgin in modern times. You would think that the next logical step would be to bring jesus back through cloning.
Anyway, most xstians think the idea is abhorrent, but I wouldn't be surprised to find people that actually would want to do this. Too bad for them the shroud is hardly authentic. ![]() |
