Default The Pope Betting Pool!

This thread was no way intended as an official response to the current events taking place. Yes, I'm an admin, but I am also a poster. And unless obviously taking place in an official capacity, my posts should not be taken as representative of anyone except myself.

Nissa/blex

Yes, extremely tacky, I know. But, I'm opening a betting pool for the death of Pope John Paul: The Serial. If we have to hear the latest urinary tract infection, heart attack and throat operation news every single day at least once -we might as well have a reason. So, here we go.

The rules:

1) You give me one post with a date and EXACT time (eg. 06:11 second of april) of the Pope's death (given in the timezone for the Vatican to make it fair).
2) Only one bet per person.
3) The person closest to the correct time and date will receive from me a real life prize, religiously themed and appropriately tacky, of course.
4) The earlier predicted the bet in comparison to death, the better the prize. If you predict he's going to die in 3 mins after an official statement, let's just say it's not that impressible.
5) First come first served, it's your responsibility to make sure you haven't picked the same time as anyone else.
6) Betting will close as soon as the first news report comes out announcing the time.
7) Insert any clarifications on rules that I haven't thought of just yet.

And I stress again, the prize will be very real, and is coming out of my own pocket considering I'm not actually asking for money. But if you want to donate more prizes, I'm not complaining. (Just in case one of you is throwing out religious parephenalia from your past).

So let the betting begin!

I never thing exact times are fair tbh, and here is why. see if someone picks 12.00am and I pick 12.01 am then I have the entirity of the rest of the known universe for him to die in. then someone else could pick 12.02 and I essentially get jammed unless I am accurate to within a minute. the best way is to have 30 minute segments which people can pick, and if nobody gets it right, nobody wins.

well, it's a bit late for that now, even if you do have a point. there are two people with exact bids.

And since when is betting ever fair?
